Problems
Water leaks from the
filter holder after an
espresso has been
made.
Coffee grounds in
the cup.
The water tank leaks
when it is carried.
Water leaks under
the machine.
Water leaks under
the drip tray
Crackles are heard
in the filter holder.
The pump is
unusually noisy or
the 4 lights flash.
The cups are not
filled equally.
Lots of water on the
ground coffee, in the
filter holder.
The machine leaks
on the sides of the
filter holder.
Possible causes
Your machine needs to be
descaled.
The filter holder is clogged.
The espresso grind is too
fine.
The valve at the bottom of
the tank is dirty or defective.
The valve is blocked by lime
scale.
Internal leak.
Water can be present and/or
flow when you remove the
drip tray.This is not a sign of
a leak.
Normal phenomenon:
the filter holder security
lock.
No water in the tank.
Tank poorly fitted.
The Claris cartridge is not
filled with water.
The filter holder is clogged.
Coffee insufficiently tamped
down.
Insufficient amount of coffee.
The filter holder has not
been properly positioned.
The edge of the filter holder
is clogged by ground coffee.
Pod poorly positioned in the
filter.
The brewing head seal is
dirty.
The brewing head seal is
defective.
Solutions
Descale the machine (see Section 8).
Clean the filter holder with hot water. Press
"EJECT" to eliminate the remnants of the grounds.
Shake to drain the water.
Choose a larger grind of coffee. The perfect
espresso grind will feel like fine grains that do not
clump when pressed together.
Wash the water tank and push on the valve at the
bottom of the tank to make sure it is not stuck.
Descale the machine (see Section 8).
Check the position of the tank. If the fault persists,
do not use the machine, contact an approved
service centre.
Stop the appliance, fill the water tank and turn the
machine back on.
Press down firmly on the tank.
Please refer to paragraph 4.
Clean the filter holder (see section 7).
Tighten the filter holder as far as it will go, up to
the stop (fig.7).
Add more espresso ground coffee.
Put the filter holder in place and lock it (by turning
it to the right as far as it will go, up to the stop).
Remove excess coffee.
Place all the paper inside the filter holder.
Clean the seal with a damp cloth.
Contact a Krups approved service centre.
