NOTE
Most engine troubles are caused directly or
indirectly by the fuel used on the machine. Take
special care in using the correct fuel mixture.
NOTE
Do not use used oil that can cause damage to the
oil pump.

4.10. OPERATING THE ENGINE

4.10.1. STARTING ENGINE
1. Fill the fuel and oil tanks respectively, and
tighten the caps securely.
2. Put the ignition switch to the "on" position.
3. Before starting your chain saw, the chain brake
should be activated by pushing it forward (see
picture).
4. Always remove the bar cover before starting
your chain saw.
5. When doing a cold start, pull the choke out (to
the open position). Press the throttle trigger lockout
and the throttle trigger. Then press the choke all
the way in (to the closed position)
6. To start the chain saw, lay it on a flat surface.
The cutting attachment must not be in contact with
the ground to avoid blunting it when starting and
putting yourself unnecessarily at risk.

8. Leaving the chain saw on the ground, place your
left hand on the handlebar and your right hand on
the starter rope. Push your right toecap into the
rear handle to stabilize the chain saw.
9. Slowly pull the starter rope with your right hand
until compression is felt. Then pull the starter rope
hard several times until the engine fires briefly. Pull
it upward, keeping it as vertical as you can, without
allowing the rope to chafe against the fan housing

mediately. Bring the choke out half way.
11. Pull the starter rope again until the engine fires
again.
12. As soon as the engine has fired and is running,
touch the throttle trigger briefly with your index fin-

ger. Once the the chiansaw comes to a consistant
idle, push the choke back to the closed position.
13. Then slowly lift up the chain saw, taking care
not to touch the throttle trigger.
14. Release the chain brake by pulling the chain
brake handle toward you with your left hand. Keep
hold of the handlebar with your left hand as you do
this. When you hear a click sound, this means the
chain has been released and can turn on the bar.
15. The saw is now ready for use. For safe working
practices please refer to your Instruction Manual.
WARNING
Starting of the chainsaw must only be attempted
on a level and firm ground.
WARNING
Keep clear of the saw chain as it will start rotating
upon starting of the engine.
4.11. CHECKING OIL SUPPLY
After starting the engine, run the chain at medium
speed and see if chain oil is scattered off as shown
in figure (F12).

The chain oil flow can be changed by insert-
ing a screwdriver in the hole on the bottom of
the clutch side. Adjust according to your work
conditions(F13).

NOTE: Ensure the fuel and oil tank is frequently
monitored. We suggest that the level be checked
with every startup.
4.12. ADJUSTING THE CARBURETTOR (F14)
The carburettor on your unit has been factory ad-
justed, but may require fine tuning due to change
in operation conditions. Before adjusting the
carburettor, make sure that the air filters are clean.
When adjusting the carburettor, take the following
steps.
4.12.1. Stop engine and screw in both H and L
needles until they stop. Never force, then set them
back the initial number of turns as shown below. H
Needle: 1 ¾, L Needle: 1 ¼
4.12.2. Start the engine and allow it to warm up at
half throttle.
4.12.3. Turn L needle slowly clockwise to find a
position where idling speed is maximum, then set
the needle back a quarter (¼) turn.
4.12.4. Turn the idle adjusting screw (T) counter
clockwise so that the saw chain does not turn. If
idling speed is too slow, turn the screw clockwise.
