HORIZONTAL MILLING MACHINE
ASSEMBLING:
Reinforce the connection between long and
short machine bed with an intermediate piece U10.
Work with 6000 rpm or the high-speed motor.
Fasten all connection pieces firmly. If steps or fit-
tings should be made it is possible to remove the
spindle from U9 and move the upper part of the
slide by hand (as with the woodturning lathe).
WORKING:
With this machine working in three levels
with three slides is possible. The drilling machine
can be also set up as vertical milling machine
(same set-up as the vertical drilling machine, only
with a fixed milling cutter instead of a drill).
Pay attention to the right milling direction (up
milling)! Maximum infeed of 1 mm (when using the
high-speed motor – accessory 162 420 – then even
more).
ATTENTION:
Milling can be very dangerous, you can be
seriously injured !
AVOID:
Wrong milling direction (always mill against
the turning direction of the milling head), too thick
chips.

WHAT TO DO IF ..
The surface of the work piece is not clean:
grind again, less infeed.
Machine does not work exactly:
Check connections, clean and grease slides (they
must be easily movable), check backlash.
MAINTENANCE:
Clean and grease slide (with vaseline).
POSSIBILITIES:
Three-dimensional working (in every angle), spe-
cial wood connections (grooves, prongs,...), architec-
tural model building, toy building, ...; center-hole
boring (with fixed drills).)
Sanding in different angles (see operating instruc-
tion on page 28)
TECHNICAL DATA:
Slide travel: 30 and 50 mm
Collets from 0.5 – 6 mm
Vice capacity: 25 x 35 mm
Materials for Processing:
Hard wood strips (beech-tree, nut-tree), wooden
bars (maximum 20 mm diameter) or plastic and soft
metal. When using a soft wood (spruce) it is not pos-
sible to have a quality surface finish.
