SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read these instructions carefully before use,
and save them for future reference.
WARNING: Read all the safety instructions
and other instructions. Failure to follow all
the instructions and safety instructions can
result in the risk of electric shock, fire and/
or serious personal injury. The term "power
tool" in the instructions below refers to
mains-powered (corded) or battery-powered
(cordless) power tools.
Work area
•
Keep the work area clean and well lit.
Dark and cluttered work areas increase
the risk of accidents and injuries. When
not in use, store the power tool in a dry
place out of the reach of children.
•
Do not use power tools in explosive
environments, such as in the vicinity of
flammable liquids, gas or dust. Power
tools produce sparks that can ignite dust
and fumes.
•
Keep onlookers, especially children, and
pets at a safe distance when using power
tools. You can easily lose control of the
power tool if you are distracted. Never
leave power tools unattended when they
are running.
Electrical safety
•
The plug on the power tool must match
the power point. Never modify the plug in
any way. Never use an adapter with
earthed power tools. Unmodified plugs
and matching outlets reduce the risk of
electric shock. Damaged or tangled power
cords increase the risk of electric shock. A
damaged cord or plug must be replaced
by an authorised service centre or
qualified person to ensure safe use.
•
Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces
such as pipes, radiators, cookers and
refrigerators. There is an increased risk of
electric shock if your body is earthed.
•
Do not expose power tools to rain or
moisture. Do not touch the power tool,
plug or power cord with wet hands or
other wet parts of your body. Never
immerse the power tool, cord or plug in
water or any other liquid.
•
Be careful with the power cord. Never use
the power cord to carry or pull the tool, or
to pull out the plug from the mains
socket. Keep the power cord away from
heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts.
•
Check that the mains voltage corresponds
to the rated voltage on the type plate.
•
Do not use the power tool if the cord or
plug are damaged, or if the tool has been
subjected to knock and blows, or is
damaged.
•
Only use extension cords that comply with
the requirements of the power tool for
power consumption and earthing etc.
(see type plate). If the power tool is used
outdoors, only use an extension cord
approved for outdoor use. If an extension
cord is used on a reel, pull out the full
length of cord.
•
If it is absolutely necessary to use the
power tool in damp conditions, use a
residual current device with a tripping
current of max 30 mA to minimise the risk
of electric shock.
•
Hold the power tool by the insulated grips
when working where the surface or
cutting edges can come into contact with
concealed electrical cables or the power
cord. Contact with a live cable will cause
the metal parts on the power tool to also
become live – risk of electric shock.
Personal safety
•
Stay alert. Pay attention to what you are
doing, and use your common sense when
working with power tools. Never use
power tools if you are tired or under the
influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
