IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

WARNING: STRANGULATION HAZARD! KEEP
OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. DO NOT USE WITH
EXTENSION CORD.
SPEED
The Munchkin
®
Steam Guard
Electric Sterilizer is a fast and efficient sterilizer, completing a full cycle in as little as 6 minutes. It
destroys harmful bacteria by surrounding your bottles and accessories with hot steam. Your sterilizer will hold up to 9 standard
or 6 wide bottles, along with additional accessories. In addition, the Bottle Tongs can be clipped inside the unit during use to be
sterilized.
SAFETY
The Munchkin
Steam Guard
Electric Sterilizer comes with several safety features. The handles lock into position for a secure
®
close. The power switch will illuminate when the unit is in operation. As with all Munchkin
Sterilizer has been tested to ensure strict compliance with safety standards. The Munchkin
keep bottles sterile for up to 6 hours, provided that the lid is not removed and the handles remain locked.
LIME SCALE BUILD-UP
To combat problems with hard water and lime scale build-up, a water Measuring Cup with a lime scale Mesh Filter is included. An
easy-clean stainless steel Heating Plate ensures that the sterilizer will continue to work efficiently.
Please read and retain for future reference.
WARNING!
- The sterilizer contains boiling water when in use
- Steam escaping from the vents can cause burns
- Take care when opening as the handles will be hot
- Do not attempt to open the unit when in use
- If you do ever need to stop the sterilizer mid-cyle,
switch off (contents will not be sterile)
- Please make sure your sterilizer is placed on a firm
and even surface when in use
CAUTION!
To reduce the risk of electric shock, keep extension cord connection dry and off the ground.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is
intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does
not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.
a) The shorter power cord will help reduce the risk of entanglement or tripping over a longer cord.
b) Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
c) If an extension cord is used:
1) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great
as the electrical rating of the appliance,
2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3- wire cord, and
3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be
tripped over, snagged, or pulled on unintentionally (especially by children).
This product is not intended for use by children and persons with limited physical or mental capabilities unless they have
been instructed or supervised on the proper use of this product by a person responsible for their safety.

BEFORE USING YOUR ELECTRIC STERILIZER FOR THE FIRST TIME (sterilizing the sterilizer)
A

F
1. Remove all items from the sterilizer.
2. Fill the Measuring Cup (A) up to the water level mark (120 ml/4oz) with fresh cold water and pour into the base of the
sterilizer making sure the water is concentrated over the Heating Plate in the center of the unit (B). Splashing too much water up
the sides will affect performance.
3. Assemble the 3 pieces that make up the Bottle Holder. The Central Rod fits into Accessory Tray 1 and twists to lock into
position (C). Accessory Tray 2 then slides down over the Central Rod (D).
4. Place the Bottle Holder in the unit, clip the Bottle Tongs onto the top of the Central Rod, replace the Dome Lid (E) and lock
closed using the Side Handles (F).
5. Plug the power cord into the wall electrical outlet.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE CORD AND UNIT ARE OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
6. Press the Power/ON button to start the sterilizing cycle. The unit will automatically switch off after cycle is complete -
approximately 6 minutes.
7. Always allow your sterilizer to cool down for at least 10 minutes between cycles. As a safety mechanism the unit will not allow
you to switch it on again until it is ready for use.
WARNING: Take care when opening the lid, as the handles will be hot and hot steam will escape. Beware of hot steam escaping
from the steam vent during use.
CAUTION: HOT SURFACES. AVOID CONTACT.
8. When your sterilizer has cooled, turn off the unit and unplug from the wall electrical outlet.
9. Remove the Bottle Holder, pour away any remaining water (G) and wipe the inside of the sterilizer dry (H).
CLEANING YOUR STERILIZER
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU CLEAN YOUR STERILIZER AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. REGULAR CLEANING WILL MAINTAIN
THE PRODUCT'S PERFORMANCE. FAILURE TO OBSERVE THE CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS OR MISUSE OF THE PRODUCT WILL
INVALIDATE YOUR WARRANTY.
Your Measuring Cup has a Mesh Filter which will remove some (but not all) mineral deposits present in the water supply. Without
regular cleaning, these will eventually build up on the Heating Element. Sterilizing using filtered or distilled water should further
reduce the quantity of minerals present.
1. Clean the exterior of the unit with a soft damp cloth. Do not immerse in water!
2. Remove the bottle holder from the sterilizer and wash it separately in warm soapy water.
3. To remove any lime scale deposits, follow the "TO CLEAN" instructions.
