a)

GENERAL FEATURES

LASERBEAM 2 is a wireless electronic device made up of two plastic shapes of 1,86m height, meant to contain one or more transceiving
infrared circuits. The two shapes are installed frontally at the maximum distance allowed from the range: inserting the batteries a barrier
between 2 and 8 invisible and modulated infrared rays will be originated. An interruption of one of the infrared rays will produce alarm which is
radio transmitted. Not any electric connection nor else is required for installation. The special technology at low consumption used and patented
from Silentron allows working of the barrier for over 2 years, depending on the use and number of batteries.
b)
USES
LASERBEAM 2 may be installed for both indoor and outdoor access control: in case of outdoor use attention must be paid to the sunlight (see
further notice). The possible configurations of the system always require a basic circuit to which further 3 expansions may be added or,
alternatively, junction circuits: the latter will not protect, whereas the basic circuits and expansions both have 2 rays each: up to 8 rays of
protection may be obtained on the total height of the shape, barriers can be made of 6, 4 and 2 rays asrequired. The shape may be cut a/o
jointed with the special cap for pleasant finish. By means of a dip-switch available on the circuits correct functioning will be obtained with the
different configurations (see illustrations). LASERBEA M 2 will produce alarm when a single ray is interrupted, and is able to transmit a signal of
"alarm ended" when the ray is reset: combining Laserbeam with Silentron control units and receivers, when a single ray is interrupted, will
produce a signal of "interrupted ray" at each activation of the control unit.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Supply of the basic circuit: 2 or 4 lithium batteries AA 3,6V 2Ah – Consumption: 200Ua approximately each circuit - Autonomy: over a year
with 1 battery for each circuit – almost the double with 2 batteries.
Supply of the expansion: 2 or 4 lithium batteries AA 3,6V 2Ah – Consumption: 200Ua approximately each circuit - Autonomy: over a year with
1 battery for each circuit – almost the double with 2 batteries.
Indoor range: about 7m. – outdoor and with full exposure to sunlight the range will be reduced to about 5m.
Coded signals transmitted: alarm (ray interruption) – end of alarm (ray reset) – tamper – low battery - supervision
Radio transmissions DualBand: two quartz-controled transmitters – frequencies (>400MHz and >850MHz) and characteristics according to
CE Law Regulations, indicated approximately for safety reasons. Factory-coded signals (40 bit) – range about 100m. in open space and about
40m. inside home in total absence of noise.
Medium lapse of intervention indoor: about 0.25sec.
Protection level: IP64
Sizes: see fig. 5

EXAMPLES FOR INSTALLATION (see illustrations) :
Several solutions with 2, 3 or 4 rays each can be installed, paying attention to the fact that applications in the same room may originate
interferences between the barriers due to reflection of the rays on reflective surfaces (clear walls, mirrors and similar). Different barriers fixed in
the same room a/o "visible" between them must be programmed in a different way, introducing a light delay by means of dip-switches 1 and 2 of
basic circuits A (Master and Slave), which will also modify the synchronism of the complete barrier: on these circuits it is also necessary to
arrange dip-switch 3 depending on the required range a/o the exposure to direct sunlight, as well as dip-switch 4 (transmission or non-
transmission of ray -reset upon interruption) and 6 (use or non-use of the removal-protection with a wall-magnet as indicated per illustration 2.
Dip-switch 5 (test) will enable testing during installation, and must be switched OFF when testing is ended.
Expansions B: dip-switches 1 and 2 have to follow the setting made on basic circuits A (dip 3), whereas dips 3 and 4 have to be set In a
different way for each pair of expansions added.
Notice: all dip-switch settings have to made in the same way on both Master and Slave before inserting the batteries , except for TEST
(5) which can be activated a/o disactivated as per requirements.
e)
ANTI-TAMPER PROTECTION Basic Barrier A
It is understood that LASERBEAM 2 is protected as removal of one of the barriers will produce alarm in any case; however protection against
removal is contemplated for the two barriers, by inserting the included magnets in correspondece with the reeds (see illustration 4) before
placing the barrier on top. In case this device should not be used put dip-switch 6 in ON-position.
f)
IMPACT OF THE SUNLIGHT ON THE RECEIVER (fig. 6)
It should be avoided that the sunlight affects the barrier frontally, as this may provoke loss of range with consequent improper alarms.
Anyhow LASERBEAM 2 disposes of a compensation system which slows the operation and automatically increases the immunity against direct
sunlight during the period of lighting. Operation of this device will increase electric consumption, so barriers which are always exposed to
sunlight will have less autonomy compared to what is indicated.
g)
LOW BATTERY WARNING : more of the radio-signalling to control panel, also 9 low "BEEP" signal the low battery condition of the
device. In this case take care to change all batteries installed in both beams. The operation must be done until 3-4 days, to avoid supervision
alarm.
