Set-up
The charging/transmission station should be operated only on a stable, horizontal surface.
Make sure you position the appliance in a safe and stable place, away from devices that might
fall on it, thereby avoiding unwanted accidents.
Point the IR transmission window (9) to the listening place. As the audio signal is transmitted via
IR radiation, there must be no obstacle between the IR transmission window (9) and the listening
place, which could obscure the IR radiation.
• When selecting the set-up location of the charging/transmission station, take into consideration the room
layout (e.g., location of the nearest socket, audio connector of the TV set etc.).
• Also keep in mind, when selecting the set-up location, the need to avoid proximity to direct sunlight, vibra-
tion, dust, hot and cold temperatures and dampness.
In view of the variety of paints and polishes used for furniture, the base of the device may leave
visible marks on the furniture on which it is placed, as a result of a chemical reaction. Therefore,
do not place the device on the surface of valuable furniture without appropriate protection.
Getting started and operation
a) Connecting the power unit
Only the enclosed mains connection may be used for the power unit.
The power unit may only be powered by a standard mains socket that is connected to the public
supply.
Make sure that the voltage indicated on the power unit corresponds with the mains voltage of
your power supply. Never try to operate the power supply at a different voltage.
Make sure that the connecting cable is not pinched or damaged by sharp edges when making
the connection.
The mains socket to which the power unit is connected must be easily accessible, so the device
can be quickly isolated from the mains power supply in the event of a fault.
• Connect the low voltage jack of the power unit with the power unit connector (1) at the rear side of the
charging/transmission station.
• Plug the power unit into a wall socket.
• The POWER indicator (7) lights up green when the power is supplied.
b) Inserting and charging the rechargeable battery
• Open the rechargeable battery (13) compartment of the device and insert the rechargeable battery.
If the contacts of the rechargeable battery are provided with a protective foil, take it out before
inserting the rechargeable battery.
Pay attention to the position of the contact. The rechargeable battery has to be inserted such
that the contacts in the battery compartment (13) are opposite to the contacts on the recharge-
able battery.
• Close back the rechargeable battery compartment (13).
• For charging the rechargeable battery, insert the headphones into the charging tray (6) of the charging/
transmission station.
• The POWER indicator (7) lights up orange to indicate the charging mode.
• When the rechargeable battery is fully charged, the POWER indicator (7) lights up green.
The headphones can only be inserted into the charging/transmission station in the correct direc-
tion.
Prior to initial operation, the rechargeable battery must be completely charged.
c) Audio connection
The charging/transmission station is only suitable for connection with low level audio signals.
Connect it exclusively to devices with such connections (headphone connections, RCA connec-
tions, SCART connections etc.).
In cases of doubt, contact a specialist.
Non-observance of these notes can cause damage to the TV headphones or the connected
devices.
• Connect the AUDIO connector (5) to the headphone connector on your TV set using the supplied audio
cable.
If the headphone connector of the TV set has a deviating connector, you can use one of the
supplied adapters.
Operation
Before setting it up, adjust the headphones' volume to minimum, in order to avoid any excessive
loudness and the risk of hearing damage.
• Turn the headphones on with the POWER button (11). When headphones are on, an orange LED lights
up on the front panel.
• Put on the headphones, observing the right (R) and left (L) marks on the ear cups.
• Function of the display and operating elements on the headphones and charging/transmission station:
Operating element
Function
Bass switch On/Off (2)
switches the bass boost on/off
Bass controller (3)
adjusts the bass boost (with active bass boost)
Switch ST/Mono (4)
selects the transmission type (stereo/mono)
green: Charging/transmission station is supplied with power
POWER indicator (7)
orange: Headphones' rechargeable battery is charging
orange: Audio signal active, device switched on
AUDIO indicator (8)
off: no audio signal available, device in standby mode
VOL controller (10)
adjusts the headphones' volume
ON/OFF button (11)
turns the headphones on/off
BAL controller (12)
adjusts the headphones' volume ration left/right ear cup
The charging/transmission station turns itself automatically off after a short time, when no au-
dio signal is available. If an audio signal is detected again, the charging/transmission station
switches on again.
If no audio signal is received, the headphones also turn off after a short time. To turn it back on,
press the ON/OFF button (11).
Care and cleaning
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, cleaning alcohol or other chemical solutions since these
could damage the housing or even impair operation.
Do not immerse the product in water or expose it to moisture or high humidity.
• Use a dry, slightly damp, lint-free cloth to clean the product.
• When the ear plugs are dirty, they can simply be removed for cleaning and then reinserted. If worn-out,
they can be replaced by the spare ear plugs.
Troubleshooting
The headphones turn off during operation.
• The rechargeable battery is flat.
Recharge it before further use in the charging/transmission station.
• The headphones do not receive any audio signal, so they turn off.
Make sure that an audio signal is being transmitted from the charging/transmission station.
Make sure that there are no obstacles in the IR transmission path.
The charging/transmission station switches off automatically.
• There is no audio signal; the charging/transmission station has switched to standby mode.
• The available audio signal is too low; the charging/transmission station has switched to standby mode.
In this case, increase the volume on your TV set, to prevent the further deactivation. You can adjust the
volume with the VOL controller (10) on the headphones.
The audio transmission is disturbed or has dropouts.
• There are obstacles in the IR transmission path; the headphones have no free "view" on the charging/
transmission station.
• The operating range of the system (approx. 6 - 8 m) has been exceeded.
• The infrared reception is disturbed by a strong solar radiation. The solar radiation also contains IR radia-
tion, and can thus influence the transmission.
Obscure the room and see if the problem persists.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable material and do not belong in the household waste. Dispose of
the unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regulations.
Remove the rechargeable battery inserted and dispose of it separately from the product.
b) Rechargeable battery
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all spent rechargeable
batteries; disposing of them in the household waste is prohibited.
Rechargeable batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with the symbol shown,
to indicate that disposal in household waste is forbidden. The symbols of the critical heavy met-
als are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (the marking can be seen on the accumulators,
e.g., underneath the refuse bin symbol shown on the left).
You can return used rechargeable batteries free of charge, to any collection facility in your local authority, to
our stores or to any other store where rechargeable batteries are sold.
You thereby fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
