a) In general
Before making measurements with the detector, remove rings as well as any watch or bracelet
from your hand. Metal parts in the vicinity of the detector influence the measuring process and
cause error signals.
Only hold the detector by the left and right sides during calibration and measurement (by the
parts of the housing coloured yellow), otherwise the measurement is influenced negatively.
Due to different materials in the walls, there may be inaccuracies or faulty measurements.
Therefore, despite a perfect indication in the display you may still encounter surprises, e.g. when
drilling a hole for a wall plug. Therefore, you should only use the detector to provide additional
information!
b) Calibration
The first calibration is done by the device directly after turning on (automatic measuring mode)
or when another measuring mode is selected. The hourglass symbol " " (A) appears in the
upper left display.
Calibration takes about 2-3 seconds. During this time, do not move the device. Only hold the
detector by the left and right side (yellow grips). After calibration, the symbol " " disappears and
a short sound is emitted.
A new calibration is performed when you press "CAL" briefly. When so doing, the device uses
the present measured value as the new reference value for display (bar display (C) is reset, all
bars disappear).
c) Measuring mode "Wood/Beams"
Press the "FUNCTION" button briefly, repeat until the symbol "
mode for wood/beams is activated.
For example, wooden beams can be found behind a plasterboard wall or suchlike. The detection
is based on detecting different residual moisture levels in the wood compared to the surrounding
materials.
d) Measuring mode "Metal"
Press the "FUNCTION" button briefly, repeat until the symbol "
mode for metal is activated.
This function is used to find metal water pipes, for example.
e) Measuring mode "Mains cables"
Press the "FUNCTION" button briefly, repeat until the symbol "
mode for mains cables is activated (live mains cables).
This function is used to find mains cables in a wall, for example.
Please note that the detection works better if there is a current in the mains cable;
for example, when there is a consumer connected and turned on (e.g. light switch or
suchlike).
The "mains cables" function is only used for live cables - but not for low voltage
cables (e.g. 12V for halogen systems).
f) Measuring mode "Auto Mode"
Press the "FUNCTION" button briefly, repeat until the symbol "
measuring mode is activated.
In this measuring mode, the device simultaneously searches for wood/beams and metal and
mains cables. Depending on what the device finds, the relevant symbols "
are displayed.
Afterwards, you can conduct a more thorough search for wood/beams, metals or mains cables
by activating the appropriate measuring mode using the "FUNCTION" button.
Example: Searching for a wooden beam behind a
plasterboard wall
• Hold the device in the air (not touching the wall) at a distance of 30-50 cm from the wall and
all other items.
• Briefly press the "FUNCTION" button three times, activating the measuring mode "
wood/beams.
• The hourglass symbol " " (A) appears, the bars in the bar display (C) are moving indicating
the calibration process is in progress.
Do not move the device during this time, do not place a hand in front of the device, only hold
the detector by the sides (on the yellow grips).
• After calibration, the symbol " " disappears and a short sound is emitted. Now place the
device flat on to the plasterboard wall.
Search for vertical beams
As you can see in the pictures, the detector must be moved appropriately across the wall when
searching for the position of a beam.

Search for horizontal beams
After placing the device on the wall, the bars in the bar display (C) appear.
A continuous tone is may be emitted now. The detector has established the
difference between "Air" and "Plasterboard wall". However, since the measuring sig-
nal is overdriven (signal too strong) you now have to recalibrate.
• To start a new calibration, briefly press the button "CAL". To do this, leave the detector on the
plasterboard wall (do not take it away from the wall, do not move!).
Wait until the hourglass symbol " " (A) disappears (approx. 2-3 seconds).
Now, the device has save the present measured value ("plasterboard wall") as a new reference
value, all the bars now disappear from the bar display (C).
• Move the device on the wall again (see figure above), to determine the position of the wooden
beam behind the plasterboard wall.
If the structure of the wall changes, the bars will appear in the bar display (C). Try to detect the
position of the wooden beam. The more bars shown, the more probable it is that there is a
wooden beam behind the plasterboard wall.
• If the measuring signal is overdriven again (all bars visible, continuous tone, LED not lit), you
can recalibrate the device and continue the search.
Important: The LED (1) is only lit, if the middle bar of the bar display (C) is shown and
the measuring process is correct. If the measured values are "too strong" (overdriven
measuring signal) the LED goes out! Recalibrate in such case.
• To reset the calibration, simply remove the device from the wall and calibrate it - or turn it off
and on again, see section "Turning the device on/of; selecting measuring mode".
Maintenance and Care
• The product does not require maintenance. Do not disassemble the detector. Any repair
should be carried out by a specialist workshop.
• To clean the detector, it is sufficient to wipe it with a clean, soft, dry cloth. Do not use aggressive
cleaning agents or chemical solutions that could damage the housing (discolouring) or impair
operation. Do not press on the display, it could be damaged.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, soft brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
a) In general
Dispose of the product in accordance with the legal regulations that apply.
b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used
batteries/rechargeable batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with this symbol to
indicate that disposal in domestic waste is forbidden.
The symbols for the relevant heavy metals are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead
(name on battery/rechargeable battery, e.g. under the trash icons on the left).
"
You can dispose of your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at your
community's collection point or any place where batteries/rechargeable batteries are sold!
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
