Building Dryer
BT 450
2. Principle of operation and dehumidification performance
These HEYLO/DriEaz units are refrigeration dryers. They function by blowing humid air
from the room across a cold evaporator coil. Humidity condensates on the coils, drips
off and is removed via condensate pump and drain hose. The now warmer and dryer
air is returned into the room and absorbs water vapors again.
If the dehumidifier operates at a room temperature of approx. 20 ° C, frost is usually
generated on the evaporator coil. This intermittently interrupts dehumidification. If an
automatic control installed in the unit detects the ice temperature, a defrosting cycle is
triggered. During this time, a significant water amount drains out of the system. As
soon as the ice is melted, normal operation is resumed.
The de-icing duration depends on air humidity and air temperature, similar to all
dehumidifiers. Dehumidifier performance should be measured based on how quickly air
humidity is reduced and not, how much water is removed. The exact air humidity can
be measured using a thermo-hygrometer.
The unit is equipped with automatic defrosting. In regular intervals, the unit switches off
for several minutes and defrosts frozen condensate on the refrigeration evaporator.
Controlled by a thermostat, the unit resumes operation as soon as the entire
condensate is drained.
3. Installation of the dehumidifier
In order to achieve best performance, the dehumidifier should be operated in a closed
room. All openings to other parts of the building, such as doors and windows, should
be closed, in order not to mix humid air with the air in the areas to be dried. If possible,
do not open and close the doors. This establishes a so-called closed drying chamber.
Use as many units as necessary to ensure threefold air renewal.
Within the drying chamber, the air should be able to freely circulate. Open internal
doors and use air blowers in order to achieve good air circulation in all areas.
Install the dehumidifier in such a way that the air flow is not restricted due to the in- and
outlet. Do not install in close proximity to loose material, such as e.g. drapes.
Usually, the dehumidifier should be installed in the middle of the room. In order to dry a
certain location, the dehumidifier should be installed in such a way that the outputted
air is directed towards the wet area and that the warm, dry air flows over it. The
opening should be at least 1 meter away from the wall.
The HEYLO/DriEaz dehumidifier heats the air, from which it extracts humidity. In
smaller rooms, the temperature may increase significantly. Room temperatures
between 20 ° C and 27 ° C generally offer good drying conditions. The room
temperature may not exceed 38 ° C and may not undercut 1 ° C; otherwise the
dehumidifier will not work.
