7. Care of instrument
Cleaning:
Wipe clean the painted surface. Blow dust off lenses then wipe very
carefully with clean cotton wool. It is permissible to breathe on
lenses before wiping. If necessary, moisten cotton wool slightly with
ether or pure alcohol. Never use liquids such as gas, benzine or
water, and never touch lenses with fingers.
Wipe a wet instrument carefully. Remove it from container and allow
it to dry out completely. Never keep a wet instrument in the
container.
Storage:
When storing, remove instrument from container so that air can
circulate around it. This helps to prevent mildew and fungus. The
storage area should be dust proof, have good air circulation and low
humidity.
Transport:
Transport and freight the instrument in foam-padded transport boxes
to reduce vibration and shock.
