Drilling Metal
• To ensure accuracy, mark the intended hole position using
a hammer and centre punch
• Use rotary drill mode only
• Ensure that drill bits are suitable for the grade of metal
being drilled, and are within the maximum capacity of the
drill (see specifications)
• To ensure efficient cutting, and prolong drill bit life, use a
suitable lubricant or cutting fluid
CAUTION
• Applying excess pressure does not result in faster or more
efficient drilling. If the pressure applied to the drill has a
noticeable effect on the speed of the drill then reduce the
pressure. Overloading the drill will reduce its service life
• As the drill bit penetrates the material being drilled, it may
'catch' or 'snag'. This can cause the machine to suddenly
'kick', to prevent any possibility of injury always hold the drill
securely, use the side handle, and use sharp drill bits
• Always ensure that material is secure. If appropriate use a
vice or clamp to hold the work, always keep two hands on
the drill
• This tool is not designed for high torque applications such
as screwdriving. Such use will damage the motor

Maintenance

WARNING: Always remove the plug from the power supply
before carrying out any maintenance/
cleaning.
Gearbox maintenance
After every 6 hours of use (approx.), the
gearbox must be re-greased
1. Remove the Gearcase Access Cover
(5)
2. Use the Pin Wrench (19) to unscrew
the gearbox cover
3. Use a spatula or similar instrument to apply general
machinery grease into the gearbox cavity until it is full. A pot
of grease is supplied with the tool
4. Be careful not to scratch or otherwise damage the
mechanism
5. Replace the gearbox cover and gearcase access cover
CAUTION
• Do not over-tighten the gearbox cover or overfill the
gearbox with grease
• If you run out of grease, or are not sure how to change the
grease, take your product to the nearest authorised service
centre and have a qualified person replace the grease
Cleaning
• Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause
internal parts to wear quickly, and shorten the machine's
service life. Clean the body of your machine with a soft
brush, or dry cloth. If available, use clean, dry, compressed
air to blow through the ventilation holes
Brushes
• Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may
become worn
• Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power,
intermittent failure, or visible sparking
• To replace the carbon brushes:
1. Unscrew Brush Cap (11) and remove the carbon brush
assembly
2. Insert the new brush assembly and replace the brush cap,
tightening it with a screwdriver
3. Repeat the operation for the second brush on the other side
of the tool
Note. After replacing the brushes, you may notice sparking
and a burning smell when the tool is first used. This is not a
hazard. The excessive sparking and the burning smell will
soon subside as the new brushes bed in.
Storage
• Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of the
reach of children
Disposal
• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and
electronic equipment, with household waste
• Contact your local waste disposal authority for information
on the correct way to dispose of tools
