Chopping/Mixing blade
• For a more uniform consistency, start with pieces of food that are similar in size. Carrots for example
should all be cut in 1-inch (2.5 cm) chunks. Do not process 4-inch (10cm) pieces with 1⁄2-inch (1 cm)
pieces.
• The chopping / mixing blade can be used to coarsely chop, finely mince, mix or puree food to gain
a smooth texture.
• Make sure the control switch is turned to OFF (O) and the unit is not plugged in.
Lock the bowl onto the base.
• Place the chopping / mixing blade onto motor shaft of food processor in the center of the bowl.
Turn slowly until blade drops into place. Handle carefully – the blade is sharp!
• Plug in unit and process food. The processing speed and time will determine the texture of the
processed food. The PULSE button can help you avoid over processing.
• Upon finishing switch to OFF or release from PULSE position and wait until the blade has stopped
rotating before removing lid. Unplug the unit.
Do not puree or mash starchy vegetables like potatoes. They will be over-processed in a second
and turn gummy.
The Slicer/ The Shredder
• To slice or shred cheese, select firm cheese like Cheddar, Gruyères or similar. Put cheese in the
freezer for about 30 minutes before processing.
• The reversible slicer/shredder disc has a slicing blade on one side and shredding teeth on the
other side. The name engraved on the blade facing up marks the selected function.
• Make sure the control switch is turned to OFF and the unit is not plugged in.
Lock the bowl onto the base.
• Place disc on motor shaft. Lock the lid onto the bowl.
• To slice or shred large foods (such as a chunk of cabbage, green pepper, whole tomatoes) open
the food chute lid by lifting the latch. Depress food holder to the right. Insert food and lock the lid.
• To julienne vegetables, slice first, then remove from bowl and slice again putting the slices in
vertically.
• To slice or shred long and thin vegetables (such as pepperoni, carrots, celery) put them into
the food chute locking the lid. Always use the pusher to feed food into the chute. Never push food
through the chute with your hands!
• Plug the unit in.
• Select speed. While pressing on the food pusher, rotate the switch for optimum slicing or shredding
performance or select PULSE to process the food.
• When the food chute is empty, select OFF or release from PULSE position. Wait until the blade has
stopped rotating before removing the lid. Unplug the unit.
NOTE: The food chute lid is designed to pivot towards the right when processing food that fills the
whole food chute capacity
