The battery module AM/S 12.1 is a lead-gel
battery for maintaining the ABB i-bus KNX
system voltage in case of a mains failure. The
battery module can only be used in combi-
nation with the uninterruptible KNX Power
supply SU/S 30.640.1. The battery module
can maintain the KNX voltage for a minimum
of 10 minutes at rated current. Total backup
time depends on the bus load. In order to mo-
nitor the charging voltage, a PTC temperature
sensor is integrated in the battery module.
The battery module is protected against short
circuit and excessive charging currents by an
integrated fuse.
Due to the limited life of battery devices, the
battery module should be replaced approx.
every four years in order to guarantee the
