DISH CHECK: If you wish to check if a dish is safe for microwaving, place the empty dish in the
oven and microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds. If the dish becomes very hot, do NOT use it for
microwaving.
ACCESSORIES: There are many microwave accessories available for purchase. Evaluate carefully
before you purchase so that they meet your needs. A microwave-safe thermometer will assist you
in determining correct doneness and assure you that foods have been cooked to safe temperatures
when using microwave-only cooking. Hestan is not responsible for any damage to the oven when
accessories are used.

FOOD SAFETY

Check foods to see that they are cooked to the United States Department of Agriculture's
recommended temperatures.
145˚F [63˚C]
160˚F [71˚C]
165˚F [74˚C]
To test for doneness, insert a meat thermometer in a thick or dense area away from fat or bone.
NEVER leave the thermometer in the food during cooking, unless it is approved for microwave use.
ALWAYS use potholders to prevent burns when handling utensils that are in contact with hot food.
Enough heat from the food can transfer through utensils to cause skin burns.
Avoid steam burns by directing steam away from the face and hands. Slowly lift the farthest edge of a
dish's covering and carefully open popcorn and microwave oven cooking bags away from the face.
