11. UPDATING THE PROGRAMMER

It is possible to update the transmodulator. Visit Alcad's web for
downloading the transmodulator updating software and instructions:
If you do not have a connection to the Internet, feel free to request the
updating software from your local Alcad Dealer or Representative or from
Alcad.
The TP Transmodulator is updated from a PC computer. To connect the TP
Transmodulator to a PC, it is necessary to use a serial communication cable
and the IP-001 programming interface.
WARNING: The communication cable must be connected to one of the
serial ports of the computer (COM1, COM2, COM3 or COM4) or to a
USB port.

12. SOLUTIONS TO POSSIBLE ANOMALIES

A. ANOMALY
A. General problems and some indicators do not turn on.
C. The transmodulator has not been correctly programmed.
S. Check the data used to program the transmodulator in the OSD. Or
perform a reading of the data stored in the transmodulator to ensure
data transmission took place correctly. To do so, press the F and READ
keys on the PS programmer.
A. The INPUT satellite transponder hook-up indicator (28) does not turn on.
C. Poor quality or inadequate level of the received satellite signal.
S. Check the quality of the satellite signal in the OSD, or measuring the BER
(bit error rate) with a field measurement for digital signals QPSK at the
satellite signal output (22) of the last diplexing transmodulator. The BER
measured after error correction should be lower than 1E-8. If not, check
the installation and direction of the antenna and external LNB unit.
Check the signal level is within the margins specified on the technical
datasheet (38).
