Operation

Thank you very much for deciding for the Testboy
instrument to perform tests of voltages (12 V bis 690 V) and earthing, polarity and continuity tests up to 650 k.
The rails on the handling zones permit one-hand operation during a voltage test.
The high protection class (IP54) provided by the Testboy

Safety information

You have chosen an instrument providing a high degree of safety. In order to ensure safe and correct application, read read this
operating manual completely before first use.
The following safety precautions apply:
Perform a function check of the voltage tester immediately before use
|
(VDE regulation 0105, Part 1). Make sure that the test line and instrument are
fully serviceable. Check the instrument on a known source of voltage, e.g. 230 V
socket.
If the display fails to indicate one or more functions during this test, do not use
|
the instrument. It must be checked by a specialist.
|
Only hold the instrument on the handles below the mechanical mark; avoid
contact with the probes!
|
Only perform tests for isolation from the power supply on both poles!
|
The instrument must not be operated in a damp environment!
|
Do not use with the battery compartment open! Whilst replacing the battery, the
probes must be removed from the test circuit.
A correct display is ensured in the temperature range of -15 °C to +55 °C.
|
Always keep the instrument dry and clean. Only use a moist cloth to clean the
|
housing.
The additional warning symbol and signal with for voltages > 40 V serve only to
|
warn of hazardous voltages, not for test purposes!
Replace the batteries immediately if a warning signal sounds shortly after
|
switching on the instrument, or when the instrument is switched on and
immediately switches off.
The various signals displayed by the voltage tester (including the ELV limit
|
value) may not be used for measurement purposes.

General

Voltages have priority. If no voltage is applied at the probes (< 9 V), the instrument is in continuity test mode.

Function

No LED illuminates in stand-by mode.
The nominal In current is a maximum of 6 mA.

Self-test

The instrument is in continuity test until a voltage of > 9 V is applied to the probes
If the display fails to indicate one or more functions during this, do not use the instrument; it must be checked by a specialist.
To test whether the instrument is ready for use, place the test probes on one each other. Perform this test immediately befor e and
after use. The continuity LED must illuminate clearly.
If the LED does not illuminate, or only faintly, replace the batteries.
If the instrument does not function with new batteries, it must be protected from being used incorrectly.
To switch on the instrument again/perform a self-test, momentarily hold the test probes on each other.
