Central Heating Water Test Kit
Chapter 4 - Maintenance, calibration and display of the MP-7
4.1 Storage of the pH-Sensor
The pH-sensor comes with an clear moisturizing cap wich is assembled to the sensor. Make sure
that this cap always contains some drops of the pH-electrolyte solution. Store the sensor always
with assembled moisturizing cap.
The sensor should never be stored dry, without moisturizing cap or in another liquid. This can
cause wrong readings or a destruction of the sensor.
Renew the solution in the moisturizing cap frequently, at least any two month or to avoid that the
cap dries out.
Use only 3.5 mol KCl-solutions (Pottasiumchloride-solution) for this purpose.
4.2 Calibration of the pH-Sensor
A calibration is recommended at least every 6 months. According to VDI guideline 2035, the
calibration must not be older than 14 days before the measurement.
Install the pH-sensor. Deassemble the moisturizing cap and clean the sensor with a clean soft
cloth.
The sensor needs to be calibrated with two reference values. Thus, you need one sachet each pH
7.00 and pH 10.00.
Calibration
1. Make sure that the pH-sensor is installed and that the display reads
2. Dip the sensor to the solution pH 7.00. Stir the sensor and wait for a stable value. Keep the
button
pressed until the display reads CAL and 7.00 flashes. As soon as the display
stops flashing and reads „SA" and „End", the calibration is finished and the device returns to
the measurement mode.
3. Rinse the sensor with water (distilled if possible) and clean it with a dry clean cloth. Dip the
sensor into the pH 10.00 solution. Stir the sensor and wait for a stable value. Proceed like
explained at point 2.
4. After the calibration the device shows a deviation degree in %, which is the state of the
sensor. If the value is lower than 70% or above 130% the sensor is damaged and should be
replaced. A value of 100% is ideal.
Attention:
(1)
The symbol „SA" will not appear if the calibration fails.
(2)
Always start the calibration with pH 7.00 and proceed with pH 10.00.
(3)
Calibration for each usage is not necessary.
(4)
Dispose the calibration solution after usage. Never use repeatedly.
