Using your power hedge trimmer
.2 Correct operation of your power hedge
trimmer
Observe all safety regulations when using this
power tool.
Connection to the mains supply
Fig. 2
Connect the appropriate extension cable to the
cable strain relief (5) and connect the mains plug
(6) to the extension cable.
To isolate the equipment, always pull the mains
plug from its socket, i.e. never pull on the cable to
remove the plug.
Switching the hedge trimmer on/off
The hedge trimmer is only approved for two-
handed operation. For safety reasons it can only
be switched on when one hand operates the main
switch (3) at the same time as the other hand
operates either the safety switch or auxiliary
switch.
To switch off the device, release either of these
two switches.
Fig. 4
Standard stance:
The rear hand operates the mains switch (3) on
the rear handle; the front hand operates the
safety/auxiliary switch B on the handlebar (7).

Fig. 3
Alternative stance to increase the range:
The hedge trimmer is held with both hands on the
rear handle. One hand operates the main switch on
the top part of the handle, while the other hand
operates the safety switch/auxiliary switch (4) on
the bottom part of the handle.
Ergonomic handle position
Fig. 6
To move the rear handle to the optimum ergonomic
position, when the motor is switched off, push the
ratchet lever (2) upwards to release it and then turn
the rear handle until it's in the desired position. The
rear handle locks into five different positions.
Before restarting, ensure that the handle is safely
locked in position.
Note: If the handle is not correctly locked, the
hedge trimmer will not start.
In every position the handle is angled
approximately 15° towards the cutting axis. This
ensures that the device can be used directly on the
hedge and can still be held at a short distance from
the hedge.
