6. ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION

6.1. PROTECTION ZONE

The electrical installation of the bathtub must comply with the pre-
sent regulations on low voltage. Thus, it is important to remember
that in a bathroom with a bathtub, there are four volumes of pro-
tection, defined as shown in the figure 4.

6.2. EQUIPOTENTIAL CONNECTION

The metal elements of the bathtub must be connected equipotentially.
To be specific:
- The motor and bathtub (cast iron models) are already con-
nected to the equipotential installation.
- The support terminal, near the motor, should be connected to
the equipotential installation of the bathroom. This wire too
should be 2.5 to 6 mm
2
- If the drain is made of metal, it must be connected to the
support using a cable with a section measuring 2.5 to 6 mm
(Fig. 5).

6.3. CONNECTING TO THE MAINS

Coming out of the control unit is a lead consisting of three, 1.5
mm
conductors, which should be connected to the mains elec-
2
tricity supply.
To carry out this connection, it is important to bear in mind the
following points:
- The bath's power supply must be permanently connected to
a fixed electricity line.
- Only the lead supplied with the bath, or one that is identical
to it in type and diameter that complies with the corresponding
regulations on low voltage installations, should be used. In the
event of entirely replacing the lead supplied, remember that the
in sectional area.
yellow/green earth wire should be at least 40 mm longer than
the live and neutral wires. The reason for this is that if the lead is
pulled at any time, the earth wire will be the last to come off the
terminal strip, thus safeguarding the electrical protection.
- If the power connection is located underneath the bath, it
must only be done using a system with a grade IP x 5 protec-
tion at least, and situated more than 20 mm above the floor.
- The power lead should be connected to a 230 V/ 50 Hz ~ 60
Hz supply and to earth.
- The electrical installation of the bath must be protected by
means of a 30 mA differential switch and a suitable magne-
tothermal switch for the particular model installed (see table),
with devices for omnipolar disconnection and an aperture dis-
tance of at least 3 mm. Both switches must be placed outside
the bathroom.

8. CONNECTING UP THE WATER MASSAGE
PUSH-BUTTON
This is not necessary as the appliance leaves the works already
prepared. Nevertheless, in the event of having to disconnect the
push-button, the procedure is as follows:
- Unscrew the stuffing-box cap
- Unscrew the base of the stuffing-box
- Disconnect the electrical connection
To assemble it, proceed as follows:
- Fit the plug into its socket. Their polarity does not matter.
- Screw on the base of the stuffing-box.
- Screw on the stuffing-box cap, thereby securing the elec-
trical hose.
- Be careful not to force the cable of the female connector.
