5 Measuring Operation

1) Switch on the unit with the switch POWER (10).
One of the signal lights (1 – 3) lights up, depending
on the adjustment of the control NOISE LEVEL (9)
and the sound pressure level of the ambient noise.
2) With the control NOISE LEVEL (9) adjust the sound
pressure level at which the traffic light is to change
from green to yellow. The level can be adjusted
from 45 dB to 85 dB.
When the level is increased by further 10 dB, the
traffic light will change from yellow to red.
3) For an additional acoustic warning signal when
changing from yellow to red, press down the switch
BEEPER (8); the indicating LED (7) lights up. To
switch off the acoustic warning function, press the
switch again.
4) After operation switch off the unit with the switch
POWER.
Notes:
– A sound pressure of 20 µPa is regarded as a ref-
erence value (0 dB) which is internationally agreed
upon for sound pressure level measurements. This
value approximately corresponds to the hearing
threshold for a sound in the most sensitive fre-
quency range of the ear.
– The measured sound pressure level depends on the
distance of the meter to the sound source. By dou-
bling the distance to a sound source (which equally
radiates in all directions of the room), the sound
pressure level will be reduced by approx. 6 dB.
6 Replacing the Signal Lamps
Replace a defective signal lamp as follows:
1) Take off the front panel after removing the four
screws. Pay attention that the mounting plate of the
signal lights which is likewise released does not
drop out.
2) Take off the colour cover (1 – 3) of the defective sig-
nal lamp after removing the two screws.
3) Replace the signal lamp against one of the same
type. The lamp has a bayonet base; for removing,
turn the lamp approx. 30° counter-clockwise up to
the stop and then pull it out.
4) First reposition the colour cover and screw it down,
then the front panel.
