Tachymeter
The tachymeter is used for measuring
the speed of a repetitive event, in
km/h, revs per min, W/h. etc.
Example: Measuring the speed
of a vehicle in km/h
To measure the time taken to cover
1000 metres (1 km) indicated by kilo-
meter markers along a road, start the
chronograph (press push-piece I) at
the first marker then stop it at the next
marker (push press-piece I again).
The tip of the Chronograph hand B
indicates the time taken to cover
1000 m; the average speed is indica-
ted by the stem of the hand on the spi-
ral tachymetric scale. If it took 30
seconds to cover the distance your
speed was 120 km/h. If it took longer
than 60 seconds (one revolution of
the hand) refer to the interior spiral.
For example, 1000 m covered in 90
seconds (one and a half minutes) cor-
responds to 40 km/h.
