WARNINGS & PRECAUTIONS
Warnings:
• Stimulation should not be applied across or through the head, directly on the eyes, covering the mouth, on
the front of the neck, (especially the carotid sinus), or from electrodes placed on the chest and the upper
back or crossing over the heart.
• Application of electrodes near the thorax may increase the risk of cardiac fibrillation.
• Do not apply stimulation across the chest, because the introduction of electrical current into the chest may
cause rhythm disturbances to the heart, which could be lethal.
• Do not apply stimulation over open wounds or rashes, or over swollen, red, infected, or inflamed areas or
skin eruptions (e.g. phlebitis, thrombophlebitis, varicose veins).
• Do not apply stimulation over, or in proximity to, cancerous lesions.
• Apply stimulation only to normal, intact, clean, healthy skin.
• Do not apply stimulation in the presence of electronic monitoring equipment (e.g. cardiac monitors, ECG
alarms), which may not operate properly when the electrical stimulation controller is in use.
• Do not apply stimulation when in the bath or shower.
• Do not apply stimulation while driving, operating machinery, cycling or during any activity in which electrical
stimulation can put you at risk of injury.
• Do not use in close proximity to shortwave or microwave therapy equipment which may produce instability in
the stimulator output.
• Wireless communication equipment such as wireless home network devices, mobile phones, cordless
telephones, base stations and walkie-talkies of between 1W and 10W can affect this equipment and should
be kept at least 2.3 to 7.3 metres away from the controller.
• Use this controller only with the shorts, leads, electrodes, and accessories recommended by the
manufacturer.
• Always ensure that the charger/power supply is positioned so that it is easy to unplug the power supply from
the socket.
• To isolate this equipment from the mains, the charger/power supply plug should be removed from the
socket.
• Do not attach any cables or connectors to Innovo, other than those supplied by Atlantic Therapeutics. Never
connect any computer leads to the controller.
• Simultaneous connection to high frequency surgical equipment may result in burns at the site of the
stimulator electrodes and possible damage to the stimulator.
• The product must not be used with any other product which delivers electrical current to the body (e.g.
interferential or another muscle stimulator).
Precautions:
• The long-term effects of electrical stimulation are unknown.
• For use by adults only.
• Keep INNOVO ® and INNOVO
• Some users may experience skin irritation or hypersensitivity due to the electrical stimulation or the electrical
conductive medium.
• Users with suspected or diagnosed heart disease should follow precautions recommended by their clinician.
• Use caution if you have a tendency to bleed internally, such as following an injury or fracture.
• Use caution following recent surgical procedures when stimulation may disrupt the healing process.
• Use caution if stimulation is applied over areas of skin which lack normal sensation.
• Keep the product away from children due to the risk of strangulation, and the risk of small parts (e.g. the
bottle cap) which may be broken off and cause a choking hazard.
• Keep this product out of the reach of pets or pests.
• The size, shape, and type of electrodes may affect the safety and effectiveness of electrical stimulation.
• Using stimulation electrodes which are too small or incorrectly applied could result in discomfort or skin
burns.
• You should contact the manufacturer of this electrical stimulator if you do not know if the electrodes you have
can be used with this stimulator.
