Cut the hedge in trapezium shape. This prevents the
lower hedge area from growing bare due to insufficient light.
As a rule of thumb: 10 cm inclination per metre hedge
height.
For a 2 m high hedge having a width of 80 cm at its base
this means that its crown has a width of 40 cm, for example.
Now cut the top side of the hedge.
Spannen Sie eine Richtschnur über die Länge der Hecke,
wenn Sie die Oberkante der Hecke gleichmäßig stutzen
wollen.
Trim in several passes if you have to cut down a large
portion of the hedge.
Pause with your work often when cutting hedges for
extended periods and oil the cutting device. The oil ensures
easy movement of the cutting device.
Slide the blade protection (2) again on the cutting device (1).
Maintenance and cleaning
Before each maintenance and cleaning work
Switch off device.
−
Wait until the cutting device does not longer
−
move.
Remove the battery.
−
Wear protective gloves during maintenance and
cleaning work in the area of the cutting tool to
avoid possible injuries.
Maintenance and repair work other than those described in this
chapter is only allowed to be carried out by service staff.
For maintaining and cleaning, removed security devices must
unconditionally be mounted properly and proved again.
Only use genuine spare parts. Other than genuine parts may
result in unpredictable damages and injury.
Maintenance
To guarantee a long and reliable usage of the product carry out
the following maintainance works regularly.
Check the device for obvious defects such as
dull blades
−
deformed, broken or damaged blades
−
loose fastening elements
−
worn or damaged components
−
correctly assembled and faultless covers and protective
−
devices.
Cutting device (1)
Check the following regularly
the screw joints of the cutting device for firm fastening.
Loose screw joints cause an unsatisfactory cutting result
because the blades can no longer close correctly.
Risk of injury! Loose screw joints may separate during
work resulting in cutting injuries.
the blades for notches. Too many notches make work more
difficult because the blades are dull. These notches will also
damage the wood.
Have the blades sharpened by a specialist.
the cutting device for deformed, broken or damaged blades.
Necessary repair works or maintainance have to be carried
out before using the power tool.
Cleaning
Clean the hedge shears carefully after each use so that
the faultless function is maintained.
Remove dirt, plant residues and moisture (plant sap) from
the cutting device (1) after finishing work using a brush or a
cloth.
Never clean the knives with water
Risk of corrosion!
Stubborn dirt and resin residues can be dissolved with a
suitable cleaning agent (e.g. resin solvent).
Spray the front and back of the cutting device well. Allow
the hedge shears to run briefly so that the agent can spread
in the gaps.
After a short contact time, dry the cutting device with a
cloth.
Then spray an environmentally friendly maintenance oil on
the front and back of the cutting device.
Allow the hedge shears to run briefly so that the oil can
spread in the gaps.
The oil ensures easy movement of the cutting device at all
times. Oil also prevents rusting at locations you are not able
to dry.
A cutting device that is not cleaned and oiled may
become hot and damage the device.
Clean the case with a soft brush or a dry cloth.
Do not use solvents (gasoline, alcohol, etc.) for plastic
parts, otherwise such parts may be damaged.
Do not clean the machine under running water or using a
high-pressure cleaner.
Keep handles dry and free of oil, resin and grease.
Pay attention to that the ventilation slots for the motor
cooling are free (risk of overheating).
For information on "Maintenance and cleaning" of the
battery and the charger, please refer to the respective
"Operating Instructions".
Transport
Switch off the device before each transport and
remove the battery to prevent unintentional
startup.
Transport the device on the handle with the blade
guard in place. Hold the cutting device toward the
back at this.
For information on Transport of the battery and the
charger, please refer to the respective Operating
Instructions.
