11 Installing the DEFA device socket

CAUTION!
z The device connector plug is to be fitted so that it is protected from splash-
ing water and mechanical damage!
z The device connector plug must be attached so that the DEFA connection
cable can be inserted without difficulty!

NOTE
The DEFA - connector plug can either be installed or surface-mounted with
brackets.

Installation on the vehicle

CAUTION!
The ground connection (black cable with ring terminal) must be fitted to the
metal parts of the bodywork. When doing this, the installation point for the
earth cable must be clean and free of oil and paint!
!
CAUTION!
z Never connect the earth cable to the negative pole of the vehicle battery!
z Handle the connection cable with care. Lay the cables so that they are
not damaged by warm, hot, moving and/or sharp objects such as turbo
chargers, exhaust manifolds, cooling fans, doors or bonnets!
z The safety cap should always be kept on the contact when it is not con-
nected.
z Only original DEFA connection cables with original DEFA - device sockets
must be used.
z The DEFA connection cable must only be connected to one Schuko
socket!
