Start-up
The user is responsible for safe use of these appliances in accordance with these technical
instructions as well as, if any, the specific technical documentation of the appliance
supplied.
3.1
Location
Place the pump as close as possible to the liquid supply point.
Install it in a wide space with easy access, with good ventilation and if possible with low temperature.
Try not to install the pump on damp floors or where corrosive liquids can easily reach. In such case
isolate from the floor with a base or other elements.
If the pump must be installed outdoors, it must be under a roof.
3.2
Tubes
For optimal operation of the pump, the suction and discharge tubes must be totally hermetically sealed.
This is essential for the suction tube because if air enters through a crack or pore the performance is
considerably lower until the pump is primed.
If the pump needs to suction from a lower level, ensure that the tubing is always in ascending mode in
order to avoid air pockets.
Try to reduce the number of elbows, valves or obstructions as much as possible as these can cause
significant load losses.
The recommended speed of the liquid through the suction tube must be a maximum of 2 m/s.
It is recommended that the suction tubes are a larger diameter than the discharge tubes. If a larger
diameter tube needs to be installed above the suction intake an eccentric reducer bushing must be
installed.
If installing suction with load (fig.1), it is essential to install a valve (b) between the tank and the pump
for subsequent handling.
When suction must occur from a lower level than the pump (fig.2), a foot valve must be installed (d) to
avoid priming. The valve must be installed at the maximum depth that enables correct suction of the
liquid to be obtained.
Ensure that the suction and discharge tubes have their own fastening and do not load their weight or
tension on the pump.
In the case of very long discharge tubes it is recommended to place a check valve on the discharge (c)
to prevent possible water hammer and thus avoid potential damage to the pump's components.
3.3

Motor connection

The connection must be made by a specialist pursuant to current safety dispositions. It is
essential to observe the manufacturer's data on the motor's specification plate.
All the necessary measures must be taken to avoid cable and connection faults.
Connect the motor according to the instructions provided by the manufacturer.
Check the turning direction: counter clockwise viewed from the front of the pump (fig.3).
