Channel 4
Inputs - Mic and Line
Channel 4 has an additional low impedance balanced XLR 'MIC' input, as well as the high impedance 'LINE' socket. Apart from this
Channel 4 is identical to channels 1, 2 and 3. The XLR input is intended for use with low impedance balanced microphones. The input
circuitry provides additional gain of ≈40dB, therefore when this channel is not in use we recommend that the 'GAIN' control is turned
to minimum to reduce the level of backgound noise.
When the 'LINE' socket is used the signal from the 'MIC' preamp circuitry is switched off and the channel can then be treated in the
same way as channels 1, 2 and 3.
Aux
This has the same function as on the other channels.
Gain
This sets the post e.q. signal level of Channel 4 and works in the same way as the 'LEVEL' control on the other channels, therefore it
also sets the signal level sent to the auxiliary send, if selected.
As stated before, because of the extra gain in the 'MIC' preamp, when this channel is not in use this control should be turned down
to reduce noise.
Bass & Treble
The equalisation circuit is the same as what appears on the other three channels. It has the same amount of boost/cut and works at
the same frequencies.
Master
Next to the red power on LED is the master volume control. As the name suggests this simply sets the overall volume level of the
unit; all four channels and auxiliary circuit.
REAR PANEL
Auxiliary loop
This has sockets for SEND and RETURN. This is a unity gain, series loop that can be activated for each channel by pressing the
appropriate 'AUX' switch on the front panel.
The output level from the 'SEND' socket depends on the setting of the 'LEVEL' or 'GAIN' control for each channel. With the control on
full the send level will be 10dB higher than the signal applied to the channel input. The 'SEND' socket is intended primarily for
connection to the input of effects units.
