Variable Speed Trigger Switch: Operating the tool at a reduced speed will reduce the
fastening torque.
Nut / Bolt Size: Larger bolt diameters generally require higher fastening torque.
Fastening torque will also vary according to length, grade, and torque coefficient.
Material: The type of material and surface finish of the material will affect fastening
torque.
Fastening Time: Longer fastening time results in increased fastening torque. Using a
longer fastening time than recommended could cause the screws to be overstressed,
stripped or damaged.
NOTE
After continuous use, allow the impact wrench to sit idle for 15 minutes
before replacing the battery. The temperature of the motor, switch, etc., will rise if
the work is started again immediately after the battery has been changed, eventually
resulting in burned-out.
NOTE
Continuous use in variable speed range is not recommended. It may
damage the switch and should be avoided.
NOTE
When change the position of the lever, making sure the variable speed
switch is released.
NOTE
The first time the tool is run after changing the direction of rotation, you
may hear a click on start up. This is normal and does not indicate a problem.
NOTE
The longer bolts, screws or nuts are impacted, to help prevent damaging
the fastener or workpieces, avoid excessive impacting. Be particularly careful when
impacting smaller fasteners because they require less impacting to reach optimum
torque.
Practice with various fasteners, noting the length of time required to reach the desired
torque. Check the tightness with a hand-torque wrench. If the fasteners are too tight,
reduce the impacting time. If they are not tight enough, increase the impacting time.
Oil, dirt, rust or other matter on the threads or under the head of the fastener affects
the degree or tightness.
The torque required to loosen a fastener averages 75% to 80% of the tightening
torque, depending on the condition of the contacting surfaces.
On light gasket jobs, run each fastener down to a relatively light torque and use a
hand torque wrench for final tightening.
