About the Dolby Digital Decoder system
Integrated Dolby Digital Decoder
Your TV set has been retrofitted with an integrated Dolby Digital Decoder. This
system has been introduced in the DVD video range and can also broadcast
digital TV stations in digital multichannel sound.
For playback of 5 audio channels the surround sound is reinforced by the
deepest frequencies from the subwoofer channel (SUB), (5. reproduction
= 5 audio channels and subwoofer). All 5 audio channels are reproduced
with the full frequency range from 20- 20,000 hertz and generate the original
theatre effect.
The Dolby Digital Decoder also decodes dts, MPEG and the analogue Dolby
Pro Logic and Dolby Pro Logic II signals, regardless of whether the audio signal
is transmitted by an external device or received by the TV set.
DVDs or CDs with PCM coded audio format are also decoded by the Dolby
Digital Decoder. The CD/DVD player must be connected to the digital input
AUDIO DIGITAL IN on the TV set by a coaxial digital connection for this (see
the TBV User Guide).
DVDs labelled with "Dolby Digital" may also be recorded in mono, stereo or
Dolby Surround sound format. DVDs may also contain different languages
with different sound formats. Pay attention to the used sound formats when
you purchase a DVD.
The audio signals decoded by the Dolby Digital Decoder are output via
the AUDIO LINK interface. You can connect a speaker system such as
Loewe "Individual Sound" (see page 4) or active speakers (see page 5) to
the AUDIO LINK interface and configure these with the sound component
wizard (see page 5).
You will notice changes in the sound settings after installing the Dolby Digital
Decoder. You now call the Sound mode with the
control.
In the sound components wizard you enter which sound components you
want to use to listen to the TV sound:
•
TV speakers
•
Speaker system
•
HiFi/AV amplifier
•
Sound projector
You make the following settings for the connected speaker system/the active
speakers with the sound component wizard:

The connection and setting of an audio amplifier are described in the TV
User Guide.
