Safety indications concerning the electromagnetic field
Operating principles and advantages of using induction hobs and woks
In an induction hob or wok, the heat doesn not transfers from a heating element to the cookware
to heat the foodstuff, but the necessary heat generates directly in the cookware base by magnetic
induction.
An induction coil housed under the ceramic glass cooking surface generate an alternating
electromagnetic field, that pass right trough the ceramic glass and generates the heat directly in the
base of the cookware. The pans/pots/cookware are heated only if they are made of a ferromagnetic
material.
Many induction cooking suited cookware have the mark "
they are made of a material suited to be heated through induction.
This cooking system offers various advantages:
-
Energy savings: since the heat is directly generated on the bottom of the cookware, no energy
is dispersed in the thermal transfer between a heating element and the cookware.
-
Safety: the heating takes place only if the cookware is correctly positioned on the cooking
surface. Since the ceramic glass of the cooking surface is heated only by the thermal transfer
from the hot cookware, the risk of scalding or of burning food that falls on the cooking surface
is reduced to a minimum.
-
Much faster heating-up time, compared to traditional electric or gas hobs.
-
Quick and precise heating level selection.
Due to the electromagnetic fields produced by the appliance during its normal operation, the users
must comply with some specific safety rules:
People with high electrical sensibility should not spend too much time near the appliance.
Scientific tests have shown that the equipments for induction cooking does not pose a
risk to health. However, the persons with a pacemaker should always maintain a
minimum distance of 60cm from the appliance during the functioning. Persons
equipped with a pacemaker and/or metal ferromagnetic prosthesis, plaques and
screws, should also consult a physician before using the appliance, in order to be
informed about any special rules to follow for their own safety.
Do not place magnetic objects or mobjects sensible to magnetic fields, such as credit cards,
data media (hard drives, memory cards or USB sticks) etc. on the appliance or or in its
immediate vicinity during the operation.
Radio, televisions, recorders, magnetic tapes and / or audio-video transmission devices
may stop working properly when placed near the appliace. To reduce or eliminate any
malfunctions, place televisions, radios, etc. as far as possible from the appliance and connect
it to a different power outlet from that used for the induczion hob/wok.
