Photoelectric Sensors
Function
In the case of a retroreflective
sensor(BOS R254K-...-PR10-...), the emitted light is
reflected back to the sensor by a reflector. Interruption of
the light beam by an object causes the switching
operation.
Through-beam sensors (BOS R254K-...-RS/RE10-...) are
sensors having separate transmitter and receiver units
which must be aligned with each other on opposite ends
of the detection range. When an object interrupts the light
beam, the receiver switches, i.e. the output signal
changes.

LED 1 (operating status and communication)
Signal Meaning
Static red General error
Green alternating IO-Link communication is active.
with LED off at ratio The device is ready.

Installation
CAUTION
Red light
If you look into the light beam emitted by the transmitter,
temporary blinding and irritation of the eyes is possible.
Use of Controls or adjustment or performance of
procedures other than those specified herein may result
in hazardous radiation exposure.
► Locate transmitter units so that it is not possible to
look into the light beam even during operation.
► Observe the instructions in this manual.
The sensor can be fastened with two M4 screws.
