7. The installation was successful, click Restart to restart your computer
On LINUX:
The following steps describe the installation on a computer running LINUX. Please read
the instructions carefully and only attempt them if you have used similar functions in
LINUX previously, alternatively contact your system administrator.
• Open Terminal
• Install USB 3.0 drivers with 'sudo update-usbids'
• Download the latest LINUX driver from
http://asix.com.tw/products.php?op=pItemdetail&PItemID=131;71;112, AX88179
• Switch directories to the folder 'Downloads' or the location you saved the file
• Extract the archive with tar -xjf XXXXX.tar.bz2 (where XXXXX.tar.bz2 is the name of
the file you downloaded)
• Navigate to the unzipped folder
• Compile the driver with 'make'
• Install the driver with 'make install'
• Download the program EthTool and install with 'sudo apt-get install ethtool'
• Deactivate the original network interface with '/etc/network/interfaces ifdown eth0'

As LINUX does not currently support 1000Mbps Ethernet, set the speed of the new
interface with 'sudo ethtool -s eth1 speed 100 duplex full'

Verifying the Driver Installation
Windows:
Once you have finished the installation, you can open the Windows Device Manager to
verify if your Ethernet adapter is properly installed.
To access the Device Manager:
On Windows
System Properties>Device Manager
