4. Description and application:
The handy shape of the HE 8 N EN handlamps
renders them particularly suitable for
inspection and maintenance duties as well as
for security patrols.
The handlamps are composed of three units:
1. Housing including the electrical insert
2. Bezel ring with protective glass and
reflector
3. Battery insert
By turning the bezel ring about two times (fig. 1,
item 2), the light can be focussed from wide
beam to spot light.
A rotary switch with three switch positions is
located on the carrying handle.
- ON (main beam)
- OFF
- ON (red signal light)
A rechargeable battery insert composed of 3 x
4 Ah NiCd accumulators serves as power
source.
In case of a broken filament or towards the
end of the main beam's duration , there will be
an automatic changeover to pilot light, thereby
preventing a sudden and total failure of light.
If the lamp's operation is continued with pilot
light, a safety circuit will switch off the pilot
light after apx. 0.5 h whereby the
accumulators' deep discharge is prevented.
The signal light is made up of four bright light
emitting diodes built into the reflector.
A two-colour LED (laterally arranged near the
handle) indicates the available duration and
thus the battery's charging status (fig. 3).
LED green:available duration > 75%
LED red:
available duration 33-75 %
LED off:
available duration < 33 %

to pilot light
The lamp and the LG 483 charger, order No. 1
1540 000 483, combine to provide a portable
emergency light in non-maintained system mode.
5. Taking into operation
Prior to taking the lamp into operation, check
its correct functioning and perfect condition in
accordance with these operating instructions
and other applicable regulations!
The handlamp may be opened or
charged only outside of hazardous
areas!
