When starting for the first time let it run through a coffee making cycle (without instant
coffee) once or twice as described in the "Making coffee" section; let water run through for
cleaning.
Connect the appliance to the power supply.
Pour water into the glass pot and introduce this water into the water container.
The number of cups is indicated on the front side of the container.
Place the glass pot on the warming plate under the pivot filter.
Pull the pivot filter up and forwards.
Place a paper filter in the pivot filter.
Add the desired amount of coffee and close the pivot filter.
Press the start button; the coffee will run through.
The coffee is done when it has completely run through.
Note: Allow the appliance to cool down for app. 5 minutes between two brewing processes.
Note: Regular decalcifying (after app. 40 filter processes) keeps power consumption low and
extends the service life of your coffee maker. The degree of calcification depends on the local
water hardness level.
Introduce cold water into the container, add citric acid and let it run through the appliance.
Then run cold water through the appliance 2-3 times.
The following items are indications that decalcification is required:
Brewing time gets longer.
Visible lime deposits in the tank.
Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
Use wipe with a damp cloth moistened with a few drops of detergent.
Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
Do not place it under the tap. The glass coffee pot and filter may be cleaned with warm
water, a washing liquid and soft brush.
Do not place in the dishwasher!
Occasionally de-scale the mineral residue left by water using a de-scaling product
specifically formulated for coffee maker.
A damaged carafe may result in possible burns from hot liquid. To avoid breaking the
carafe:
Do not allow all liquid to evaporate from carafe. Do not heat carafe when empty.
Discard carafe if damaged in any manner. A chip or crack could result in breakage or
contaminate liquid contents with glass particles.
Never use abrasive scouring pads or cleansers as they may scratch and weaken the glass.
Do not place carafe on or near a hot gas or electric burner, in a heated oven, or in a
microwave oven.
Avoid rough handling and sharp blows.
