Tip: You will find it easier to handle the saw blade
holder if you remove the safety hood (see section
entitled "Safety hood").
Fig. 2 Saw blade
5.2 Safety hood (Fig. 4)
5.2.1 Removing the safety hood
Hold the safety hood (6) on its underside and pull
one of the journals carefully out of its recess. The
safety hood can now be taken off the tool.
5.2.2 Fitting the safety hood
Fit one of the journals into its recess on the tool.
Then fit the journal on the other side into its recess.
Fit the safety hood before you connect the jigsaw
to the power supply.
5.3 Parallel stop (Fig. 5)
The parallel stop (8) enables you to saw parallel
lines with millimeter accuracy.
Undo the two locking screws (14) on the saw
foot.
Now slide the parallel stop into the rail. You can
fit the parallel stop on either the left or right of the
tool. The guide strip must always face down-
wards. Fix the required distance using the mea-
surement scale on the parallel stop and tighten
the locking screws again.
5.4 Extraction of dust and chips (Fig. 6)
Connect your jigsaw to a domestic vacuum clea-
ner using the vacuum cleaner connector. This will
provide excellent dust extraction on the workpie-
ce. The benefits are that you will protect both the
tool and your own health. Your work area will
also be cleaner and safer.
Dust created when working may be dangerous.
Refer to the section entitled "Safety instructions".
The vacuum cleaner you use for the extraction
work must be suitable for the workpiece material.
Use a special vacuum cleaner if you are handling
harmful materials.
Special regulations apply for extraction equip-
ment if you are using the tool for commercial pur-
poses. Discuss the requirements with your pro-
fessional association if necessary.
Fit the two journals on the suction port into the
recesses on the vacuum clean connector. Turn
the suction port clockwise as far as it will go.
Connect a suction hose to the extraction port.
Check that all the parts are properly connected.

6. OPERATING THE JIGSAW
6.1 Using the jigsaw (Fig. 7)
Ensure that the ON/OFF switch (3) is not depres-
sed. Only then should you connect the mains
plug to a suitable socket.
Do not switch on the jigsaw until you have fitted a
saw blade.
Use only saw blades that are in perfect condition.
Replace blunt, bent or cracked saw blades imme-
diately.
Place the saw foot flat on the workpiece you wish
to saw. Switch on the jigsaw.
Brief operation
Press and hold the ON/OFF switch (3) –> the jigsaw
will start.
Continuous operation:
Press and hold the ON/OFF switch (3) and press the
locking button (2) –> the jigsaw will now operate con-
tinuously.
Allow the saw blade to accelerate until it reaches full
speed. Then slowly move the saw blade along the
cutting line. Only exert gentle pressure on the saw
blade as you do so.
Brief operation: Release the ON/OFF switch (3) –>
the jigsaw will stop
Continuous operation: Press the ON/OFF switch
(3) once, the locking button (2) will be released –>
the jigsaw will stop.
Ensure that you do not cover or block the ventila-
tion openings whilst working with the tool.
Do not slow down the saw blade after you switch
it off by pressing it sideways.
Risk of recoil. Do not put down the machine until
the saw blade has reached a complete standstill.
Tip: The best combination of speed and pendulum
action depends on the material you wish to saw. We
recommend that you always carry out a trial on a
piece of waste material. This will enable you to find
the best settings very easily.
