5. PREPARATION

5.1 Additional handle (Figure 2)
The additional handle (4) enables you to achieve
better stability whilst using the hammer drill. Do
not use the hammer drill without the additional
handle (4).
Undo the handle (4) by turning it clockwise.
Thread the hammer drill's chuck through the
collar in the additional handle (4). The additional
handle is suitable for both left-handed and right-
handed users. Position the handle on the left or
right side of the hammer drill. Turn the handle (4)
into the best position for you.
Turn the handle (4) counter-clockwise to tighten
it again. Check that the handle (4) is secure.
5.2 Inserting the drill bit or chisel (Figure 3/ 4)
This hammer drill is fitted with a keyless chuck.
This allows you to insert drill bits or chisels into
the tool quickly and easily.
Pull back the locking sleeve (5) with your hand.
Insert the drill bit or chisel until you feel it engage
in the tool. These accessories have recesses on
their shafts. Ensure that you fit these recesses
correctly in the tool.
Push the locking sleeve (5) forwards. Check
whether the accessory is tight in the tool.
Connect the mains cable to a suitable socket.
Press the ON/OFF switch (1) and carry out
several drilling/chiseling operations.
Release the ON/OFF switch (1) to switch off the
tool. Wait until the drill bit or chisel has complete-

mains plug and check again that the accessory is
secure.

6. OPERATING THE HAMMER DRILL

6.1 Special instructions

The tool must neither be wet, nor be operated in

a damp environment.
Check the tool, mains plug and mains cable
before use.
Connect the plug to a socket only if the tool is
switched off.
Always hold the tool in both hands.
Do not cover the ventilation slits. Keep them
clean at all times.
Keep the handles dry and free of oil and grease.
Secure your workpiece: Use clamps or a vise to
hold the workpiece securely. This is far safer
than holding it in your hand and also means that
you have both hands free to operate the electric
tool.
6.2 Switching the tool on and off (Figure 5)
First of all insert a drill bit or chisel into the tool.
The following sections describe how the acces-
sories are to be fitted into the hammer drill and
for what jobs you can use them.
Connect the mains plug to a suitable socket.
Position the hammer drill in the place where you
wish to use it.
Only then should you switch on the machine at a
low speed:
Press and hold the ON/OFF switch (1)
-> The hammer drill operates
Release the ON/OFF switch (1)
-> The hammer drill stops
Do not drill through asbestos cement. Always ensure
that the area in which you are drilling is well ventilat-
ed so as to prevent damaging your health. If neces-
sary stop work if the dust concentration in the air
increases sharply.
