purposes. You are advised to set the device short enough to exclude
a fall over the edge from the beginning. A slack rope, in particular,
should be avoided and the danger of a swinging fall due to side-
shifting should be minimised (2.6).
The fall-arrest fastening element must not be extended (2.4 + 2.5). Do
not climb higher than the anchoring point.
Usage in accordance with EN 358 Lanyard
WARNING: Lanyards or restraint systems are not suitable for the
purpose of catching. They limit the freedom of movement, so that a
fall cannot occur.
Fasten the lanyard carabiners to the side fall arresting eyelets of the
harness (always use as pairs, e.g. EN 358) for workplace positioning
or fasten to a single restraint fall arresting eyelet as a restraint system.
The lanyard can be used in combination with a bypass to climb
wooden poles. When used as a lanyard, the use of additional PPEaF
is a necessity.
Lanyards must be set tight enough during use that the freedom of
movement in all directions is limited to approx. 60 cm.
The anchoring/connecting point must always be at or above the
height of the harness, so that the lanyard is always under tension and
a possible fall into the lanyard will be as short as possible (2.9 +
2.10).
