use, the fall arrest device must be taken along by hand, to adjust the
length. To prevent the fall arrest device from unintentionally running
out of the guide, the end stop (knot or end stitching) must be in good
order and not missing. In the event of a fall, the fall arrest device
blocks the rope until it stops. Without a strap-type fall absorber, the
arresting force is lowered to below the maximum permitted 6 kN
(EN) as a result of the combination of the friction and the rope
elongation (2.4 + 2.5).
The required height limiter (H
and must be respected at all times in order to avoid hitting the ground
in the event of a fall. Particular care should be taken when using the
equipment near the ground:
max. possible fall distance:
+ height of the anchor eyelet from the ground:
+ safety clearance:
With a strap-type fall absorber, the arresting force is lowered to
below the maximum permitted 6 kN (EN) as a result of the length
change in the shock absorber during blocking in combination with the
friction and the rope elongation.
A maximum length is not defined for EN 353-2 products. (see 1.3 for
length details).
A visual inspection (3.1–3.3) and a functional check must always be
carried out for safety prior to use. To do this, run the fall arrest device
device upwards along the rope and quickly pull it downwards. It
should easily move upwards and immediately block downwards.
Fasten the rope carabiner onto a reliable anchoring point with a
minimum load capacity of 12 kN for use (e.g. according to EN 795,
DIBt, ANSI, ...). Fasten the fall arresting device's carabiner to a fall
arresting eyelet marked "A" on the safety harness (e.g. EN 361).
Using the front fall arresting eyelet is recommended.
Avoid a slack rope (pay attention, especially during the first metres of
climbing, until sufficient rope mass is available to keep the rope
independently on the ground) and make certain that there is always
sufficient free space under the user's feet, to exclude the possibility of
crashing onto the ground or a component from falling down (2.4–
2.5).
If the fall arrest device is manually interlockable, the free rope end
must be fixed to prevent unintentional raising of the rope (slack rope
creation) when the fall arrest device is locked. A manual interlock is
only allowed to be opened/repositioned in areas with no fall hazard,
to avoid a fall.
If the fall arrest device is used on a roof or a platform, there is no
possibility of fastening it to an anchoring point above the user; in this
case, an anchoring point beside the user may be used for attachment
