4 Mounting
GB
The unit must safely be mounted in an expert way. For
fixing, the housing has a profile on the upper and lower
sides into which the head of a M10 screw fits. Thus, it
is e. g. possible to suspend the dimmer with a bracket
which is usual for lamps (e. g. TA-50 or TA-55 from
"img Stage Line") next to the lamp at a crossbar. To fix
a screw:
1) Screw off the side part (11).
2) Slide the head of the M10 screw into the groove.
3) Reposition the side part and screw it tightly.
WARNING If the unit is installed as a suspended load
above persons, it must additionally be
secured (e. g. by a safety rope). Fix the
safety rope in such a way that the maxi-
mum falling distance of the unit is 20 cm.

5 Making the Connections

5.1 Connecting the lamps
WARNING Even if the output voltage is reduced, a
dangerous mains voltage may be pres-
ent at the socket (2). Therefore, prior to
connecting lamps or working at the
lamps, disconnect the DP-1DMX in any
case from the 230 V mains!
The output (2) of the DP-1DMX allows to connect all
types of reflectors, light effect units, lamps, and other
light sources which can be dimmed and which work
with an operating voltage of 230 V~ and do not repre-
sent an inductive load, i.e. do not contain any trans-
formers or chokes. The DP-1DMX can be operated as
a switch in case of lamps which cannot be dimmed. The
maximum load must not exceed 1400 W. Please also
observe in this context the chapter 5.3 "Making the
mains connection" in any case!

5.2 Connecting the control unit

Connect a control unit with DMX512 protocol (e. g.
DMX-1440 or DMX-120 from "img Stage Line") as fol-
lows:
1) Connect the input (10) via a 3-pole XLR cable to the
DMX output of the light control unit.
For the connection, special cables for high data
flow should be used. The use of standard micro-
phone cables can only be recommended for a total
cable length of up to 100 m. The best transmission
results are obtained with a screened microphone
cable of 2 x 0.25 mm
cable. For cable lengths exceeding 150 m it is
recommended to insert a DMX level matching
amplifier (e. g. SR-103DMX from "img Stage Line").
2) Connect the output (9) to the DMX input of the next
dimmer or light effect unit. Connect its output again
to the input of the following unit etc. until all DMX
receivers are connected.

or a special data transmission
The DMX output jack has a latching. To pull out
the plug, press the PUSH lever.
3) Terminate the DMX output of the last DMX receiver
of the row to a 120 Ω resistor (0.25 W): Solder the
resistor to the pins 2 and 3 of an XLR plug and
connect the plug to the DMX output or use a corre-
sponding terminating plug (e. g. DLT-123 from "img
Stage Line").
5.3 Making the mains connection
Connect the plug of the mains cable (1) to a socket
(230 V~/50 Hz). The connected maximum load is
1400 W (6.1 A). Ensure that the current circuit the unit
is connected to is protected by a fuse of a correspond-
ing high value.
6 Operation
6.1 Switching on and selection of the operating
mode
With the connection of the mains cable to the 230 V
mains the unit is switched on and ready for operation.
The LED display (5) shows the operating mode last
selected. The operating modes are in detail described
in the following chapters.
6.2 Adjusting the DMX address
To control the dimmer via the DMX interface it is re-
quired to adjust the corresponding DMX address on
the DP-1DMX:
1) Press the button MENU (6) so many times until "A"
and a three-digit number appear in the display (5).
2) Adjust the desired address from 1 to 512 with the
buttons
(7) or
(8). The address is memorized
automatically. The DP-1DMX reserves one DMX
channel. Therefore, another DMX unit can receive
the start address following it next.
The reception of a DMX signal is shown by a
flashing point on the top left in the display, inde-
pendent of the address adjusted.
6.3 Dimmer operation
The dimming of the output may be made via DMX or
manually. Press the button MENU (6) so many times
until the desired operating mode, "L..." for DMX dim-
mer or "P..." for manual dimming, is shown in the dis-
play (5).
If it is not possible to select these operating modes,
the DP-1DMX must first be switched over from switch
operation to dimmer operation:
1) Press the button MENU so many times until the dis-
play shows "S---".
2) Press the button
(7); the display shows "d---".
Now it is possible to select the desired dimmer operat-
ing mode with the button MENU.
