If not in use always connect the device to the supplied automatic charger!
2. Elements of the device / purchased parts package
* Battery-starter
* Automatic charger
* Cable for alternative power source ( only 12V )
3. Before bringing into service
IMPORTANT NOTE: Prior to first use of the battery-starter charge for at least
48 hours!
NOTE: In case you do not put the battery-starter into operation, please always
connect to the included automatic charger in order to avoid self-discharging and damages
to the battery-starter.
Item 5439 3400: First put the switch to the desired output voltage 12V resp. 24V.
Item 5439 1700: Check the state of charge of the battery-starter by pressing the control button
for approx. 10 sec. If 4 LED are lighted, the battery-starter is ready for use. If 3 or less LED are
lighted, the battery-starter has to be charged immediately. If all 5 LED are lighted, the device is
fully charged (the 5th LED will go out when the battery-starter is disconnected from the charger).
Item 5439 2600 u. 5439 3400: Check the state of charge of the battery-starter by pressing the
control button for approx. 10 sec. If the displayed voltage is lower than 12,6V resp. 25,2V the
battery-starter has to be charged.
4. Putting into operation
Select the desired output voltage for Item 5439 3400.
* Switch is set to „OFF"!
* Connect the red (positive) terminal to the positive terminal of the battery.
* Connect the black (negative) terminal to the negative terminal of the battery or to the earth of
the vehicle. Be careful with movable parts (ventilator, V-belt etc.)
* You absolutely have to pay attention to the polarity of the battery-starter to avoid injuries and
damages (Pay attention to the warning device! Alarm and LED display!)
* Ensure a safe and stable placement of the battery-starter, switch to „ON" and start the engine.
When starting the engine keep a safe distance from the battery and the battery-starter.
* When the engine is running, immediately disconnect the black (negative) terminal and switch
off the device.
* Then disconnect the red (positive) terminal.
ATTENTION: If the engine does not start after 10 sec, you have to let cool down the
battery-starter minimum 3 minutes to avoid damages to it.
5. Charging of battery-starter
* Only charge the battery-starter with the supplied automatic charger.
ATTENTION: For Item 5439 3400 you select an output voltage of 12 V for charging.
Make sure that the charger is switched on with 12V-4A (switch on the right of the
charger). When all LED are flashing on the charger (12V-4A) the battery-starter is
fully charged.
* Charge the battery-starter while driving with the supplied charging cable using the cigarette
lighter (12V!)
ATTENTION: When charging the battery-starter using the cigarette lighter, make
sure to start the engine before connecting the battery-starter! The battery-starter
has to be switched on. For item 5439 3400 the output voltage of 12 V has been
chosen!
If not in use, always connect the device to the supplied automatic charger!
6. Battery-starter as an alternative source of energy
The battery-starter offers the possibility to serve as an alternative power source when changing
the battery. As a result, important electronic data (radio, phone, clock, car computer etc.) are
maintained. Simply connect the battery-starter with the charging cable to the cigarette lighter.
Select the output voltage of 12 V for item 5439 3400. The device has to be in the „OFF" mode.
NOTE: For some vehicles the cigarette lighter only works when the ignition is switched on!
