USER INSTRUCTIONS POND HEATER
POND HEATER & FREEZING PREVENTER
This heater offers the possibility to use the filter equipment also during the winter
season. The advantages are evident: clear water also in winter, a stable biological
balance and no recoil in early spring, whereas during a period of frost, the pond will
locally remain frost-free. Advantages for the biological functioning of the pond:
1. Supply of oxygen: during a period of frost, the pond will locally be kept frost-free,
no matter its size or water capacity. Consequently the water will remain oxygen rich.
2. Harmful gases will disappear from the pond water through the ice-free hole.
3. Development of micro-organisms: during the winter period the water will remain
a fraction warmer than it would be normally. This will stimulate the micro-organisms.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

The Pond Heater is completely ready for use. Stick the heater tube through the
Styrofoam floating body and place the whole unit in the pond. After placing the
heater in the pond, the plug can be connected.

The Velda pressure and flow filters are offering the possibility to connect a heater.
The specially constructed screw cap of the heating element can be screwed simply
and watertight in the filter. Suitable devices are all versions of Cross-Flow Biofill,
Cross-Flow Swirl, Giant Biofill XL and Clear Control 50/75/100.

To prevent overheating and consequently damage, the Pond Heater has a built-in
thermal security device. In the unlikely event that the pond pump fails, this device
ensures that no overheating can occur in the filter.

The housing is entirely closed watertight and maintenance free. Clean the heater
and floater using a soft brush and ample clean water.

Always switch off the power supply by pulling the plug out of the receptacle.
USE AND SAFETY
By applying the under mentioned instructions, the Velda Pond Heater is safe for use.

The Pond Heater is provided with 10 m of grounded electrical safety cable with
flex and plug. Connection to a dry and grounded receptacle with earth leakage
circuit breaker of 30 mA is necessary.

Only use good quality grounded extension leads, flexes, receptacles and the like.
!
The flex is watertight. It has an anchored housing and may not be replaced when
damaged. If any damage occurs to the flex, the heater may no longer be used.

When carrying out activities in or near the water, all devices that are immersed or
in touch with the pond should be de-energized.
!
Only use the Pond Heater in the pond water. Any other use is excluded.
!
First place the heater in the water, then connect the plug to the power supply.
Attention
Inspect the flex and the electric connecting points prior to use for any damage.
Take care that the plug and the receptacle are dry. For safety reasons any repairs
to the flex and the heater may only be carried out by Velda (see guarantee).
