• If you set the temperature control dial to a lower
setting, wait until the temperature indication light
turns back on. Once the set temperature has
been reached, the light will go out and you can
continue ironing. This ensures that the appliance's
temperature is not too high.
• For fabrics made from mixed fibres, adjust the iron's
temperature setting for the most delicate fibre.
• If you have not used the appliance for a number
of weeks, first carry out the procedure described in
'Using for the first time'.
• If you are using starch, clean the soleplate every so
often with a soft, damp cloth to prevent scale build-
up.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Warning:
Before cleaning the appliance, always switch it off,
unplug it from the electricity supply and allow it to cool
down completely.
• Do not clean the appliance with an aggressive or
abrasive cleaner, or with a sharp object such as a
hard brush or knife.
• Empty the water reservoir.
• Use a damp cloth to clean the iron's housing and
soleplate.
• Dry them with a dry cloth.
• If required, clean the soleplate with cleaning
vinegar.
• Follow the instructions on the packaging for the
cleaning vinegar.
Self-cleaning function
• Use the self-cleaning function at least once a month
to prevent scale from forming in the iron.
• Remove the plug from the mains power socket.
• Allow the appliance to cool down completely.
• Fill the water reservoir, see 'Filling the water
reservoir'.
• Set the temperature control dial to 'MAX'.
• Stand the iron on its heel on a level, stable, heat-
resistant surface.
• Insert the plug into the mains power socket. The
temperature indicator will be lit. The temperature
indicator light will go out once the set temperature
has been reached.
• Remove the plug from the mains power socket.
• Hold the appliance horizontally above a sink or
(wash)basin.
• Keep the Self-clean button depressed. The mix of
water and steam will remove any dirt and scale.
• Carefully move the iron to and fro.
• Wait until all the water in the reservoir has been
used.
• Repeat this process until only clean water comes out
of the iron.
• Use a damp cloth to clean the iron's housing and
soleplate.
• Dry them with a dry cloth.
