Hints for the Storage of Frozen Food
To help you obtain the best performance from this appliance, here are some
important hints:
■ Make sure that the commercial frozen foodstuffs were adequately stored by the
retailer.
■ Be sure that frozen foodstuffs are transferred from the store to the freezer in the
shortest possible time.
■ Do not open the freezer door frequently. Do not leave the freezer door open
longer than absolutely necessary.
■ Once defrosted, food deteriorates rapidly and cannot be refrozen uncooked.
■ Do not exceed the storage time indicated by the food manufacturer.
Hints for the Refrigeration of Fresh Food
To obtain the best performance, follow these helpful tips:
■ Do not store warm food or evaporating liquids in the refrigerator.
■ Cover and wrap food. Be particularly careful with strong flavored foods.
■ Food wrapped in polythene bags should be placed on the glass shelf above the
crisper bin. Food stored this way can safely be stored for only one or two days.
■ Cooked food and cold dishes should be covered and can be placed on any shelf.
■ Fruit and vegetables should be thoroughly cleaned and placed in the crisper
bin.
■ Butter and cheese should be placed in special airtight containers, wrapped in
aluminium foil, or polythene bags to exclude as much air as possible.
■ Milk should be stored in a capped container on a balcony on the refrigerator
door.
■ Bananas, potatoes, onions, and garlic, unless packed, must not be kept in the
refrigerator.
6/ CLEANING AND CARE
CLEANING
For hygienic reasons, the appliance interior, including the interior accessories, need
to be cleaned regularly.
Caution! Do not clean the appliance while it is connected to the mains. There
is the danger of electrical shock! Before cleaning, switch off the appliance and
unplug it from the mains. Alternatively, switch off the circuit breaker or remove the
fuse. Never clean the appliance with a steam cleaner. Moisture could accumulate
in electrical components presenting a danger of electrical shock! Hot vapors
can damage the plastic components of the appliance. The appliance must be
completely dry before it is placed back in service.
