B. Mounting.
To reduce the risk of fire or explosion, do not install in a hazardous location if the
operating temperature exceeds the ignition temperature of the hazardous atmosphere.
Refer to the product nameplate for operating temperature markings.
The Model 151XST has provision for mounting to a 3/4" NPT threaded pipe with the dome in any
position. The conduit run to the splice box shall not be longer than 10 inches. Before mounting,
ensure that mating threads are clean. Thread the fixture onto the 3/4" pipe and secure the setscrew.
C. Electrical Connections.
1. AC Models.
To avoid electrical shock hazards, do not connect wires when power is applied.
The AC units are provided with two leads, one black and one white. Connect the black lead to the
phase (hot) side of the power source and the white lead to the common (neutral) side of the AC
power source.
If required, the green screw in the housing is provided for connection to an earth ground (see
figure 1). To gain access to the screw, the power supply assembly can be removed. Globe removal
is described in paragraph III.A.1.
The 120 or 230-240 VAC Strobe units are designed to operate on both 50 and 60 Hz
electrical power. Special modifications are NOT required for the two different AC line
frequencies.
2. DC Models.
The DC units are polarity sensitive, and MAY BE DAMAGED by incorrect electrical
hookup. When connecting the DC strobe unit to the voltage supply lines, POLARITY
MUST BE OBSEREVED.
In addition, damage will result if the voltage rating of the model is exceeded.
The DC units are provided with two leads, one red and one black. Connect the red (+) lead to the
positive side of the power source and the black (-) to the negative side of the DC power source.
If required, the green screw in the housing is provided for connection to an earth ground (see
figure 1). To gain access to the screw, the power supply assembly can be removed. Globe removal
is described in paragraph III.A.1.
