Before Initial Use
ATTENTION!

Danger of suffocation from plastic fi lms and bags! Keep children and animals away
from the packaging material.
■
Clean the device in the manner described in this chapter. It is possible that production
residues may still be adhering to the surfaces.
1. Unpack the items supplied and check them for completeness (see the "Items Sup-
plied and Device Overview" chapter) and possible transport damage. If the kettle,
base station, mains plug of mains cable should have any damage, do not use the
device (!), but contact our customer service department.
2. Before using the device, remove all packaging materials and any labels that may be
on the device and are used for protection during transportation or for advertising.
3. Wipe the kettle with a clean, damp cloth. Rinse out the kettle with a little mild de-
tergent and clear water. Attention! No water must get into the contacts on the
bottom of the kettle! This could cause a short circuit.
4. On the bottom of the base station (5), wind up or unwind the mains cable to the length
you require. Then place the mains cable into the slot which is provided for it on the
edge of the base station (5).
5. Place the base station (5) on a dry, heat-resistant, fl at surface a suffi cient distance
away from fl ammable objects.
6. Plug the mains plug into a properly installed and earthed 220 – 240 V plug socket
with earthing contacts.
7. Fill the kettle up to the MAX marking with drinking water and allow it to boil (see the
"Use" chapter). Pour this water away and repeat the process twice.
The kettle is now ready for operation!

Danger of scalding! Beware of steam escaping! Be careful when pouring out hot
water.
■
Danger of scalding! The device should only be used and stored out of the reach of
children and animals. The mains cable must also be kept out of the reach of children.
Otherwise they might use the cable to pull the device down on themselves.
■
Caution – Hot surfaces! Only hold the hot device by the handle. Avoid contact
with the surface of the device during operation or shortly afterwards. It gets
very hot!
■
Do not fi ll water any higher than up to the MAX marking as otherwise water can spray
out of the pouring spout when it boils.
■
Always fi ll the device at least up to the MIN marking. The device switches itself off
automatically if there is too little water in the kettle!
1. If you have not already done so, place the base station on a dry, fl at, solid and
heat-resistant surface and plug the mains plug into a properly installed plug socket.
