Figure 3
Key switch
Your Handicare stairlift is fitted with a metal key
switch (Figure 3). The switch can only be turned
'ON' or 'OFF' with the key inserted into the lock.
The stairlift will only operate with the switch
turned to the 'ON' position.
The key can be removed with the switch
in the 'ON' or 'OFF' position. If the key is
removed, it should be stored in a safe place.
The lift will continue to operate without the
key and will charge normally provided it is
parked on the charge contact points.
The On/Off key (Figure 3) can be removed
from the key switch if preferred. The key may
be supplied with a token depending upon which
seat is installed. If the keys are removed from
the key switch, it is recommended that they be
stored close to the stairlift by hanging a key on
the handset wall bracket (Figure 4).
Wall brackets are normally located close to the
top and bottom of the stairlift. It is possible to
hang one key on each wall bracket for easy
retrieval by the operator.

Remote control
The remote control (Figure 4) is used to call
the lift to either the top/bottom of the stairs or
to operate a powered folding hinge where fitted.
The control may also be used by an attendant
where the user is unable to operate the stairlift
themselves.
The attendant should always remain off
the staircase until the stairlift is stationary.
