LEAK DETECTION AND REPAIR
Your SUP is made with a double layer PVC. If a puncture/leak arrives, the PVC can be repaired. A
repair patch is provided for repairs.
Air Leak Detection :
If the board is losing air pressure, not caused by colder temperatures, check the board for leaks,
starting with the valves.
To locate a leak, we recommend mixing soap and water in a spray bottle, spray around the valve. If
you see bubbles forming, check your valve seating and base and be sure the valve insert is screwed
tight. If you continue to have problems, it's probably time to order a new valve. Replacement of the
whole valve can be done with a simple tool that comes with the replacement valve.
If your SUP loses pressure, your valve is good, you probably have a leak. Spray soapy water on the
inflated board until bubbles appear. Mark the leak with a pencil. If you can't find the leak, swell the
board and listen to find the leak. Once the area has been identified, use the vaporizer to locate the
leak.
Small Repairs:
•
After having identified the leak, cut a piece of repair material large enough to overlap the damaged
area by approximately 1.5cm, and round off the edges.
•
Apply PVC glue to the cut-out patch and around the area to be repaired and then place the patch
on the leak.
•
Check that the patch is flat without folding and then place a weight of 6-11kg on it for 12 hours.
•
After 12 hours, add glue around the edges to ensure waterproofing. Allow to dry again for 12
hours.
