EA actuator application standards:
EA electromechanical actuators have been designed for automatic swing gates. The so phis ti cat ed design and advanced technology rank these models at the
top of their category and the electronic clutch and 12 V dc operating voltage enable intensive use in utmost safety. To achieve optimal performance however
the following application standards must be strictly observed:
1)
Gate leafs must not exceed 2 m. and 200Kg.
2)
Strictly observe values instructions for fixing motor support brackets;
3)
The gate leaf must be secured by means of suitable hinges and hinge pins must be accurately levelled so that the leaf (under no load conditions) can-
not open or close independently without the actuator.
4)
ATTENTION: Once the manual operation for the motor release or locking has been accomplished, close the cover.
5)
For gate leaves longer than 1.6m, we recommend using the electric lock.
6)
Fit mechanical end stops to the gate leaf to limit its opening and closing travel.
N.B. In the event of failure to observe the above, ELVOX declines all liability for malfunctions or damage and the guarantee will be rendered null and void.

MAIN FEATURES

External automatic systems for hinged gates
- Externally-mounted irreversible electromechanical actuator, for hinged gates up to 2 m and 200 Kg.
- The gearmotor is housed in a die-cast aluminium case, filled with special self-levelling grease, which is perfectly sealed and requires no specific mainte-
nance.
- Mechanical release can be initiated using a special key. The slip screw is protected throughout its entire movement.

Check at the time of purchase that the product is fitted with the specification plate detailing the technical characteristics of the unit. If the plate is missing, im-
mediately notify the manufacturer and/or supplier.
Units without specification plates must not be used under any circumstances. Such use will result in the manufacturer refusing to accept any responsibility.
Products without specification plates are to be considered anonymous and potentially dangerous.

MECHANICAL INSTALLATION

The actuator should be hinged on one side to the gate, and on the other side to a flange, which in turn should be solidly attached to the gate's supporting pil-
lar. Choose the position of the actuator and define the gate's opening angle, checking the efficiency of its operation.
For this purpose consult the values A and B in table 1 before proceeding with installation.
It is recommended that the A and B values are similar to ensure the efficient operation of the automatic system. For an opening angle greater than 90°, re-
duce the B value.
1) Mark the height position of bracket 2 on the leaf, indicating on the hanging post the measurement required for the position of bracket 1 (+103 mm) – Fig.
3
2) Calculate measurement B by adding dimension Y to measurement Z referring to the centre-to-centre distances of the holes on bracket 1 – Fig. 4.
3) Position bracket 1 at point A, read from the table based on the choice of opening angle and B – Fig. 4.
4) Temporarily fit bracket 1 to the hanging post
5) With the actuator fitted and the gate closed, place the spirit level on the release housing – Fig. 6, with the plug open, and keeping the automation unit horizontal,
mark the holes for the second bracket, inserting the pin in hole 1. The pin must be at the forward end of the threaded rod. Fix the bracket to the leaf – Fig. 5.
6) Open and close the leaf, checking that the rear part of the actuator body does not come into contact with the column, and that the front part does not
come into contact with the leaf. If necessary, change measurement B in the first case, and change the hole on bracket 2 in the second case.
7) For a tight-fitting closure, the X value must be less than B – Fig. 9.
Once installation is complete, measure the input currents of the automation, ensuring that they are constant and that they do not exceed the recom-
mended values (max 4A).
8) At the bottom of the actuator is a bracket which determines the travel stop point during gate opening. To ensure correct operation, fit end stops to the
gate leaf in order to limit its closing and opening travel - fig. 9.

ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION

Each device must be expertly installed, following the enclosed instructions and above all must be set up by qualified Elvox Automation Division approved per-
sonnel in accordance with the standards in force in each individual country.
Electrical connection: follow the enclosed instructions for connecting the cables for the electronic control card. Remember that:
1 - To connect the power supply to the motor unscrew the 2 screws and remove the cover (see Fig. 7).
2 - The recommended cross-section of the connecting cables for the motor is 2,5mm
Short routes should be chosen for the connections.
3 - The gate's earthing device must conform to the standards in force. The manufacturer will not ac-
cept any responsibility for damage arising from negligence in this respect.
4 - Apply adequate supplementary safety measures to the automatic system where required.
5 - Affix easily legible signs which indicate clearly the presence of an automatic gate.
