EPRG-3 PROGRAMMING CARD
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing this most High-End programming card EPRG-3 PROTRONIK.
This light and small accessory is very simple to use. It allows the user to very easily program PROTRONIK brushless controllers. te
EPRG-3 card gives you access not only to basic parameters, but to all programming parameters. With this card, you will be able to
program very accurately the controller parameters to match motor, battery and model performances.
Please read very carefully this instruction manual before using EPRG-3 PROTRONIK.
CHARACTERISTICS
EPRG-3 is powered from the battery connected to the controller.
This is true for BEC controllers (PM10A/20A/30A/40A) and non BEC controllers (PM60A, PM70A et PM80A opto).
So, no external battery is required to power this card except the controller battery.
IMPORTANT :
-
Never connect a power source directly to this card.
-
EPRG-3 is dedicated to PROTRONIK compatibles controllers. Never attempt to use this card with another brand of
controller. Doing this may destroy the card.
PARAMETERS
You can access height parameters to match the controller characteristics to the motor, battery and model type. This is almost about
36 different values! Feel free to try different settings to get the best of your kit.
But there is a very simple way to reset to default parameters by pressing a single button.
EPRG-3 is also a very simple verifying tool to verify programming parameters, even without modifying anything. This can be very
useful when you change the controller from a airplane to a sailplane. It is no more necessary to remember the previous parameters.
By connecting this controller to the card, the card « read » immediately all the parameters.
Parameters :
Brake: Off / Soft / Full (factory setting is Off)
Battery Type : Nixx / 2 ~ 10 LiPo (factory setting is 3 LiPo)
Protect Value : 47/55/63/71 % (Nixx)or 2,7/2,8/2,9/3/3,1 V (LiPo) (factory setting is 2,8 V)
Power Protect : Off / Limited / Hard (factory setting is limited)
Motor Direction : Normal / Reverse (factory setting is normal)
Start Mode : Soft / Medium / Full (factory setting is medium)
Timing : Auto / Low / Medium / High (factory setting is auto)
PWM Frequency : 8 / 16 kHz (factory setting is 8 kHz)
Governor mode : On / Off (factory setting is Off)
PROGRAMMATION
IMPORTANT :
- Before programming your PROTRONIK controller, please note that it is not protected against reverse polarity. Please pay
attention to the polarity, as an error can destroy your equipments.
Please be very careful when the motor is connected to the controller. It can be very dangerous to your body and other animals.
- Never program a controller with a motor equipped with the propeller. To avoid any accident, the best solution is to
disconnect motor from the controller during programming.
- Please note that an electric motor can become very hot.
- Please read again PROTRONIK controller instructions.
- Please note that EPRG-3 card is powered by the controller. That is to say that the controller itself must be powered by an 8 V
power source (battery).
PROGRAMMING YOUR CONTROLLER WITH THE EPRG-3 CARD
Programming is very easy. Please respect the following instructions:
10. Connec the BEC plug of the controller to the programming card (see graphic). For PM60A, PM70A and PM80A
OPTO, connect the second connector (short one).
11. Connec power pack to the controller.
12. Afer a few seconds, you can hear music, indicating everything is correct. At this moment, the card "read" all the
parameters of the controller and shows them on the Leds. That's the way you can verify your settings. If you want
to modify some parameters, please follow the next setp.
13. Leds indicating the actual value of each parameter.
14. Using the NEXT MENU button, select the parameter to be edited.
15. Using the NEXT VALUE button to edit the parameter value.
16. Using the NEXT MENU button will save the current parameter and select the next one.
17. Repeat step 5 ~ 7 for other settings.
18. Disconnect the power pack.
DEFAULT button is for resetting the controller to the factory setting.
If you cannot go to step 3 after connecting the power pack, please follow these steps:
Connect and disconnect successively and quickly 3 times the battery to the controller. This will restore communication between
these equipments.
IMPORTANTE NOTE ABOUT PM60A, PM70A and PM80A OPTO:
For the security of the model, cutoff values (47/55/63/71 % for Nixx) or (2,7/2,8/2,9/3/3,1 V for LiPo) can't be
modified for low voltage batteries (< 3 Lipo).
NOTES
IMPORTANT: never let the battery connected to the controller for a long time. The BEC circuit will deeply discharge it
in a few hours.
If you cannot establish communication between card and controller, verify that the battery voltage is > 8 V.
If the motor does not start normally, please change the timing value.
WARRANTY
Your EPRG-3 PROTRONIK is a one year warranty.
Reverse polarity errors are not covered by the warranty.
