RULES OF NAVIGATION
This manual includes the rules set by the french na-
tional authority regulating the practice of sup.Make
sure your comply with the regulation sets by the
local authorities wherever you practice.
For SUP's that fall into the category of beach
vessels (under 3.5 m long), they are required to
stay within 300 m of the coastline.
For SUP's that are longer than 3.5m or 11'6ft,
they are no longer considered beach vessels.
They are allowed to go beyond 300 m, but not
further than 2 miles.
WARNING: The inflatable SUP's longer than 3.5 m are allowed beyond 300 m under the
single condition that they are constituted of at least 2 inflatable compartments. Hence the
SUP's that have only one inflation valve are not allowed beyond 300 m. Do not use this pro-
duct if the wind is more than 10 knots or in case of a storm or lightning.
Here are the safety guidelines to use while practicing in different bodies
of water (These conditions do not need to be followed in a supervised
context) :
FLAT WATER, OPEN WATER (OCEAN & SEA) / ENCLOSED BODIES OF WATER WITHOUT CURRENTS (LAKES & CANALS)
The rider is connected to his board by a leash. The leash must be at least equal or longer than the
length of the board. No safety or security equipment is required for the beach vessels. For the SUP's
allowed to go beyond 300 m, safety and basic security equipment is required, related to the charac-
teristics of the vessel and mandatory within 2 miles of shelter (art.240-3.07). An individual floating
devise (art.240- 3.12) or a protective suit (art.240- 3.13). A life jacket or a neoprene wetsuit. A personal
strobe light (art.240-3.14) & a towing apparatus.

(while remaining in the allowed safety distances).

party of his trajectory.
∙ The rider should carry a dry bag with a
communication devise, a first aid kit and a
towing apparatus.

quired, related to the characteristics of the ves-
sel and mandatory within 2 miles of shelter.
You should be equipped with:
∙ An individual floating devise or a protective suit:
∙ A lifejacket or a neoprene wetsuit.
