IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using your Kenmore Conical Burr Grinder, basic safety precautions should always
be followed, including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE
2. Before using the appliance for the rst time, remove any packaging material, promo-
tional labels, and stickers. Safely dispose of plastic bags or small pieces that could
present a su ocation or choking hazard to young children.
3. Before using, check that the voltage of the wall outlet corresponds to the one shown
on the rating plate. Do not attempt to use the appliance with a voltage converter.
4. POLARIZED PLUG: This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is
wider than the other) which will t in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does
not t fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not t, contact a quali ed
electrician. DO NOT attempt to alter the plug in any way to make it t.
5. SHORT CORD: To reduce the risk of injury or property damage from tripping, pulling,
or entanglement, this appliance is designed with a short power cord. It can be used with
an extension cord provided you observe the following safeguards:
a. The marked electrical rating of the extension cord must be at least as great as the
electrical rating of the appliance;
b. The extension cord should be arranged so it will not drape over the edge of a counter-
top or table where it could be pulled on by children or tripped over;
c. The extension cord must be a grounding 3-wire cord.
6. Always turn the appliance o and unplug it from the power source before assem-
bling, disassembling, cleaning or storing. To unplug, grasp plug and pull it from the
electrical outlet; never unplug the appliance by pulling on the power cord.
8. To protect against electrical shock, never immerse the motor base, power cord, or
electrical plug in any liquid. If the appliance falls into or becomes immersed in water,
immediately unplug it from the wall outlet. DO NOT REACH INTO THE WATER.
9. Never attempt to operate the appliance if there is damage to the cord or plug, after it
has malfunctioned, been immersed in any liquid, or been dropped or damaged in any
way. Take it to an authorized service facility for examination and adjustment or repair.
10. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter where it could be pulled
on by children or tripped over and do not let the cord contact hot surfaces such as the
stove.
11. The burr grinder may not operate properly if the electrical circuit is overloaded with
other appliances. It should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other appli-
ances.
12. Never leave the appliance unattended during use.

12. To reduce the risk of injury to persons or property, never use this appliance in an
unstable position such as at the edge of a counter or table or on a wet or uneven
surface. Place non-plastic coasters or mats under the appliance to prevent the non-slip
feet from leaving marks or stains on the nish of the counter or tabletop.
13. Always check the hopper for the presence of foreign objects before using. Ensure
that the bean hopper and lid are properly positioned before operating the burr grinder.
14. Never attempt to grind anything other than whole co ee beans. Never attempt to
operate the grinder without the hopper lid.
15. Keep ngers, hands, hair, clothing and utensils away from the hopper during opera-
tion. Avoid contacting moving parts. Do not attempt to defeat any safety interlock
mechanisms. Always wait until the blade has completely stopped rotating before
removing the lid.
16. Regularly clean the burr grinder using the cleaning instructions in this manual. Do
not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads that could scratch the appliance's surface.
17. This appliance is recommended for indoor household use only. Do not operate in
moving vehicles or boats and do not operate outdoors. Using this appliance for
anything other than its intended use will void your warranty.
18. This appliance is not intended for use by persons, including children, with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, without
supervision and instruction by a person responsible for their safety. Close supervision is
necessary when any appliance is used by or near children to ensure that they do not
play with the appliance.
19. DO NOT attempt to operate the appliance by any method other than as described in
this manual. The use of aftermarket attachments or accessories not recommended by
Kenmore will void your warranty and may cause re, electrical shock, or injury.
20. If this appliance starts to malfunction during use, press the ON/OFF button to turn it
o and unplug it from the wall outlet. Do not use or attempt to repair a malfunctioning
appliance. For any maintenance other than cleaning, call or email Koolatron Customer
Assistance.
CORRECT DISPOSAL OF THIS PRODUCT
Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste. Contact your
local government for information regarding the collection systems available. If
electrical appliances are disposed of in land lls or dumps, hazardous substances can
leak into the groundwater and get into the food chain, damaging your health and
well-being. When replacing old appliances with new ones, the retailer is legally
obligated to take back your old appliance for disposal free of charge.
